I guess the difference is that sports stadiums have been doing it forever. And also there has been an instance I can think of where a company became controversial because of a sports commercial, so double edged sword there.
Epcot has been doing it forever too - it's had corporate sponsors since opening day.

Eggplant is gross anyway. It ruined itself. Emojis are the best thing it has going for it.

Unless it sings Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit...

Timon amd Pumba always felt shoe-horned in...Wall-E was actually about destroying and repairing the environment... Truly if thewre were ever a perfect fit, this is it. and Wall-E and Eve animatronics would be a great dynamic addition to the show...
Cartoon IPs are atonal to FW.

Having said that, I get your point, but I think it is a mistake, albeit one that Joe Rhohdhe makes too so you're in good company. Environmentalism is better served by showing what is worth to protect, than by showing what is left after destruction. Show beauty, not ugliness.

One could get off ride-with-message Kali and still not know what, exactly, there is worthy to protect then. Yes, logging creates fast flowing rivers. But all you see is that these make for fun rafting for tourists. Better to show the magnificence of the jungle than the fires of the loggers. The way it is better to show the power and magnificence of wild Africa than the dystopian garbage heaps of Wall-E.

Don't forget the lapsang souchong. Sometimes you just have to slow down and smell the lapsang souchong.
