Cinderella's Chateau Discussion

Smarter move, as I have said, would have been to leave off the m&gs and spend that money on a big, signature E. That you could build a marketing campaign around, that would bring new guests through the turnstiles.

That makes waaaay too much sense to happen.

It could have been Mermaid and Be Our Guests for the girls, Indy for the boys. Oh, what could have been.:brick:

Buzz is fine. And I even think Monsters are fine, it's just a crappy attraction.
Have you been on it lately? IMO, it has at least improved a bit since it first opened and i've been hearing others say the same thing. Definitely not my favorite attraction, but it's gotten better.

I think it's gotten worse!

I actually enjoyed the attraction quite a bit the first few times I saw it, but for an attraction that prides itself on repeatability, I see the same xact show more often than not.

True.
I debated this issue with someone yesterday.
My point was, look back historically at the things that have had major impact on existing parks.
Indy at DL.
ToT at Studios and DCA.
Everest at AK.
Test Track at Epcot.
Space Mountain at DLP.

Those things boosted attendance, generated profit, and raised the profile of their respective parks in the minds of guests and potential guests.
A restaurant, a d-ticket dark ride, and some meet/greets won't accomplish that. It will only provide some capacity, and more activities for kids and their parents.

Very true. Great post right here. I may put this on a T-shirt and wear it next time I'm in MK.

One of those versions of ToT isn't exactly up to par with the other though if you know what i mean

I will agree with this.. but regarding ToT in DCA, as far as I know it didn't boost attendance as much as they had hoped. I think Radiator Spring Racers will be DCA's big signature E-Ticket.

True.
However, it accomplished it's mission of getting warm bodies through the gates, gave the park needed capacity, added a signature E, and raised the park's profile among fans, AP holders, and potential guests.

you hit the nail on the head there. We have yet to see what the Ariel's Adventure ride will be like, but the Chateau and the meet and greets aren't going to draw the attention that a big e-ticket does.

I still think if we get what we see in the models- the screencaps and such- with all the AAs (and AA hair) I think it will be an E ticket.

True, WDI may think it's a D- but we haven't even seen the final product yet.

If WDI says it's a D, it's a D.

We haven't even seen the final product. They may be pleasantly surprised how everything works together :animwink:

I think there are what? 5-7 scenes? That's a lot to "imagine" and make a guess how it will all turn out- at least if I were working on the project I'd wait to see how much it may meet or not meet my expectations of what an E should be.

oh its looking like a D? thats underwhelming. Maybe it will have a cool ride vehicle like Dinosaur, but with some intense shark chases?....maybe I'm just reaching.

Great post Lee. You are dead on when talking about this new FL.

It seems to me the current problem with WDW is mirrored in the way they are choosing to spend half a billion dollars on meet and greets. The current management at Disney is failing to grow up with its fans. Rather then getting the kids when they are young, then growing up with them and adding options that can be enjoyed regardless of age. They are continually trying to get the 5 year old set with no attention paid to those who were 5 years old 10, 15, 20, 30 years ago. I think that is the big mistake here.

As Lee illustrated so well, the major boosts WDW has felt over the years have come from rides that appeal to teens and adults, not just kiddies.

It's not designed to draw that kind of "attention". But the overall FLE will and then some.

WDI keeps saying E Tic, I thought. It's the insiders that say D. When was this change?

It hasn't changed. Sir Goofy has rabies.

They also say TLM is an E and the consensus around here is the TLM is a D.

Which is a perfect example of why when someone says there is a "consensus" you should immediately be suspicious. :lookaroun

I will be disapointed if it is a D so I am hoping for an E, really if it is anything under the sale of HM I will be dissapointed.

You only hear it called an E in PR materials. That is how they are trying to pump up excitement for it.
In reality, if you actually talk to some of these folks, off the record, it's a nice D.

The "What is an E" debate is old and boring. In reality an E is whatever Disney decides it is. In years past Small World, Country Bears, and HoP were all E tickets. Now days, what are they? Maybe C?
Today, an E is ToT, Everest, Soarin, Indy, Pirates, JttCotE (and for argument's sake, let's toss in Spidey and Forbidden Journey). I guess maybe Mansion, due to it's legendary status, but in reality even it isn't on the same scale as the others I mentioned.
In order for Mermaid to hit E status, it will have to be long, very immersive, very detailed, and very technologically advanced. Think Ride and Go Seek, which sort of straddles the line between D and E. I have yet to have anyone tell me it is on the RaGS level.
So, for promotional reasons, you'll hear it called an E. Behind closed doors...it's more like a nice D that the whole family can enjoy, but not that far removed from the classic dark rides.
Trust me, I'd love to be wrong and have Mermaid be the next Indy. But it really isn't the case....or so I'm told.
