Is it possible to tour the castle if you are not dining there? I believe I am a little too late to get a reservation for the end of April, and my kids would love to see the castle!

If I had to *guess* I would say no. It can get very very crowded in there especially during peak eating times. Now maybe if you went at like 3? or something like that then maybe. I dont know what their rules are for visiting only.

If your interested in eating there try to reserve NOW. You might get lucky if you not fussy about days or time.

It's unlikly that you will be able to tour it, I doubt anyone has the time to take you round and they probably dont want to interfere with guests that are eating.

When I ate there 2 years ago, I saw a CM kick out people who didn't have ADRs. Asking couldn't hurt, but if they did it for you, they'd have to do it for everyone, which would make it difficult to attend to actual guests eating at the restaurant.

You might try asking during the period when they are clearing over from breakfast to lunch. Maybe you could take a peek then.

It's not really much to see other than a neat dining room. It won't hurt to ask, especially around three or four, but the answer will probably be no. But you aren't missing anything really. It's not like a real castle, unfortunately.

If you really want to eat there I would at least try, you never know.

But if it makes you feel better there isn't really that much to see. The down stair is kind of neat. It's themed to look like you are inside a castle, but it's just a room full of people waiting to be seated. Up stairs, while nicely themed really just looks like a resturant.

Are you wanting a tour of the castle or the restaurant? The castle consists of a breezeway that is only open a couple of hours a day when the castle show is not impending. There is a Bibbiti Bobbiti Boutique which looks like a hair salon and you can peak in there. There is a restaurant which looks like a restaurant. And you get in there when you have reservations. And there is the castle suite which no one gets a tour of unless you are staying there or know someone.

People always want to see what is inside the castle and are quite disappointed to find out it is essentially a breezeway to Fantasyland WHEN it is open. There is nothing there. If they were smart they would have put in an exhibit showing various rooms shown in the movie, but they didn't.

When I called for our ADR a few weeks ago for our May trip the CM I talked to said he was surprised that they still had availability for February. Never hurts to call. Plus, when your day at the MK arrives try popping in at the podium as early as possible. You may find a cancellation that you can snag.

Good luck!

can't hurt to try

You may have trouble getting one of the later dinner seatings (to time with the fireworks--those book very early, I'm told.) But, I'd try anyway. We've never gone, and my daughter requested I try, even though it's way past the "180" days in advance. I just booked for the 3rd week of May--an early supper (like 5:25) but that's fine with us, we'll probably head back to the resort after for a relaxing "old fogies" night and leave my "princess" & friend in the park (they're 19.) We actually booked for a night that MK is open late, which I guess usually books up fast too, because people know they'll still have park time after the meal. The Rez CM told me that she always tells people to try-and to be flexible for which meal & which time if they really want to get in. She said even when they fully book at 180 days in advance, they also have cancellations quite often, especially for the castle, because people know if they don't officially cancel the rez. in advance they'll be charged. She said she's sometimes been able to find rez. for even just 24 hours ahead of time. So try it!

The castle at DLP is really neat in this way. The story of Sleeping Beauty is told through beautiful stained glass windows (and you go upstairs - great view of Fantasyland) and some props (eg. sleeping knights that actually snore). My brother and I thought it was so cool to be able to go into the castle and look at all the beautiful windows and neat displays. Plus, they have that cool dragon under the castle.

The mosaics are beautiful inside Cinderella Castle; however, over the years it has become harder to actually take a close look and/or picture of them, with limited foot traffic due to shows and overcrowding now with BBB.

Here's some pics from inside DLP's castle so anyone who's interested can picture what I'm talking about:

Looking at the upstairs from the floor level of the castle (sorry for the quality - it was dark and I didn't use a flash):

One of the windows (they are sequential, so as you walk around it tells the story of Sleeping Beauty):

The sleeping knight I told you about (this scene was a tapestry, not a window):

And finally, the view of Fantasyland from upstairs in the castle (the park had just opened and it was rainy and about 40 degrees in January, which explains why there's barely any people):

The dragon underneath:
