Trip Report Christmas theme in DLP November '13

Hi All,

as told in a short pre-trip report we were in DLP last weekend (November 22nd - November 24th). I hope you all enjoy this trip report with a lot of pictures of our trip.

This time we were with the three of us. Me (Michel, 42), my wife (Ria, 43) and our daugther (Sacha, 16).

We departed (4 in the morning) from Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on the 22nd to be in DLP around 9 in the morning. First thing to do was the Mickey Salon. Here you can come in if you are a member of the shareholders club of DLP. Once a day you may come in to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and 2 snacks. It's open from 9 until 12 every day.

First some pictures from the inside of Salon Mickey! On the inside it looks like one of that old rooms were men smokes cigares like in the 20's of the last century!

What a great trip report! First one I read from DLP! Its amazing the similarities and differences. I love how Space Mountain looks there!

The castle is beautiful! I really love the detail on the inside!

Did you stay at the Disneyland Hotel there or you stayed somewhere else close?

Thanks for taking us along with you!

Just had a chance to read through your report. First one I had read from DLP. Loved it. The DLP castle is beautiful, I love the hillside they landscaped into it. And the photos from the inside were amazing. One day I'd love to get over there to experience it. It was odd, at first, seeing everyone walking around a Disney Park in winter coats, but I guess DLP does get colder than the two U.S. Parks.
I hope October comes quickly for you.

Hej thanks for the reply! Great that you took time to look at the TR. The castle in DLP is in my opinion the best castle in all the parks. Like you said, the hillside lansdcape makes it really rises above the rest of the park. That's why Disney Dreams is such a nice and special show!

Your thought about one day i'd love to.... well that counts for us with WDW,and as you know we are going to experience it. Even in Halloween mode, makes it even more special!

What you mentioned about the clothes was my similar thought looking at pictures from WDW the last month. People in shorts and t-shirts next to a Christmas tree :) And here we are fully clothed because of the cold. Although our last trip in November wasn't that cold als earlier years in Winter.

Can't wait for October.... counting down :)

Hej thanks for the reply! You mention it a great trip report, but the whole trip was great (as always). There are a lot of similarities, but also a lot of differences. There is a European look over the park. When looking at studios.. well they are building the new Ratatouille ride now, but Studios need a face, it feels like a bunch of attractions and shows put together in a spare piece of land. But rumours are there are plans to upgrade Studios... we will see! Space Mountain is soooo different from USA. We even have a looping insde... and I thought that there was not one in USA. The castle is the best in all the WD parks in the world. The hillside makes it really rising above the park. Like I said in a reaction above... that's why Disney Dreams is the best closing show in the world!

We never stay in Disneyland Hotel. It is so expensive. We have annual passes, so go there 3/4 times a year. A night costs several 100's €. We now have a hotel nearby and have a 4 person room for about € 50 a night. Just a 10 min ride and we are there.....

Thanks for reading the TR :)

Wow a Ratatouille ride? I actually have to confess I have never seen that movie. But I hope they upgrade it to give it a face like you said, from your trip report I can see what you mean about a bunch of attractions just put together. Space Mountain has a looop??? Nope there is not one here in the US. the hillside I think is definitely my favorite part from the pictures.

Doing the conversion of that to US Dollars seems much cheaper than the deulxe resorts at Walt Disney World! But you saving about half that price on a nearby hotel is much better!

I can't wait for you to experience WDW you are going to have a great time! This upcoming trip will be my 19th time there!

Yeah they are building a Ratatouille ride! Off course it is a Disney Classic settled in Paris, so it was just waiting for the plans and build of the attraction. Here are some pics!

A picture from the leaflet with the plans of the new attraction. This is how it should like when finished :)

This was some months ago :)

This gate was one of the first to be ready, it's the passing from the new Ratatouille ride to Toy Story Land :)

Ratatouille-04.jpg

Somewhere in 2014 the new ride and the whole area will be opened. It's not just a ride, there are also shops and restaurants!

Ratatouille-05.jpg

So far the glimpse of the new ride. Can't wait to check the new part!

But first the pre-feelings of a trip to WDW. Just 258 days/nights to go :)

And yeah Space mountain has a loop :) I couldn't find an on ride picture on the net. The closest is from an old maquette from Disney Engineering :)

Yeah the conversion from EUR to USD is quite good these days and renting a villa is so much cheaper than one of the deluxe resorts. For it s now around 650 USD for a flight, villa and 2 cars. Off course per person. Off course a nearby hotel would be even more cheaper, but hey we are on a holiday so why not in a villa :)

Wow, the 19 time. I guess we went to DLP for about 15 times now, but off course much more trips to Paris in the future. But for now the pre-feelings for our WDW trip tops everything :)

Wonderful report! You made DLP look beautiful! :)

Thanks for the reply :) And hey I am not the one who made it beautifull :) The Disney Engineers did a great thing! As they are doing now with the new Ratatouille attraction.. and 2 years ago with Disney Dreams. Can't wait for it to compare it with WDW!! ;) LOL

I really can't wait for Ratatouille to be open! The rumour is around summer this year, but I guess it will be after summer.. but it already looks marvelous :)

And we will enjoy ourselves :)

Yes
Good job on a lot of those pictures man...especially with such a miserable looking sky the whole time.

You need a before/after shot of you getting shaved.

Finally got through it like I promised. Just not WHEN I promised.
