Chris Benoit, family found dead

This is horrible...he was one of the true "men" in the world of wrestling.

RIP Chris, Nancy, and son

I haven't been following WWE too much...what was the "McMahon death angle?"

What's weird is the "curse" of the Stu-Hart Dungeon...

McMahon was 'distraught' because he lost the ECW Championship to Lashly. Ironically, Lashly was drafted away from ECW some weeks later and vacated the ECW Championship anyway, so the whole storyline is whacked now.

Ironically, tonights Raw was supposed to be a tribute to the 'Mr. McMahon' character. I hope the whole storyline is kaput now!!!!!!!!! STUPID!!!!!!!!!

Gun shots ruled out as cause of deaths, thank goodness!!!

He pulled out of a house show and was replaced by Nitro at the PPV last night. He told officials (WWE) because his wife and son were sick and he had to take care of them. Hmmmm..... :(

Something doesn't add up. He left knowing that something was wrong...made up the "sick" story...and they all end up dead?

Foul play must've been involved.

I have a feeling there was a ransom or something on his family...he went to take care of it...and the worst happened.

Side note:

Surprised CNN hasn't picked up on it yet, but Fox News has. I trust CNN more than Fox on just about anything.

I doubt he took any kind of drugs.

That's what I mean...this seems like there was foul play.

CNN may not be the "first" to bring you the news...but it's like WDWMagic...

You may hear it on Screamscape first...but you don't trust it until it's on Magic.

The McMahon car bombing plot basically has to go in the trash now, just to show respect for Benoit. (The plot itself wasn't stupid, Slade, it just ended up with terrible timing. It got PLENTY of press for WWE, which is what McMahon wanted)

He was a big Disney fan, that is true.

Very strange story, considering the report that the deaths were not gun related. Sounded like a murder-suicide at first.

I doubt he took any kind of drugs.

I doubt that he didn't. Whether it was pain killers or steriods, I'm sure he was at least on one of those two.

Wrestler Chris Benoit, wife and child found dead
Associated Press

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. - Pro wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife and 7-year-old son were found slain Monday at their Fayette County home, authorities said.

Sheriff's Lt. Tommy Pope said the three were found about 2:30 p.m., but he would release no other details about the deaths at the house near White Water Country Club.

Pope said the deaths were being investigated as homicides, but said the cause of death awaits autopsy results on Tuesday.

He would not say how the bodies were discovered, or who found them.

The World Wrestling Entertainment said on its Website that Benoit, 40, his wife, Nancy, and son, who was named Daniel, were found dead but also had no other details.

The WWE said that instead of its programming Monday night on USA Network, it would air a three-hour tribute to Benoit.

Benoit, a Canadian native, maintained a home in metro Atlanta from the time he wrestled for the now-defunct World Championship Wrestling.

Most recently, he fought as part of the WWE.

Benoit's wife, Nancy, managed several wrestlers and went by the stage name, "Woman," The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported on its Website.

They met when her then-husband drew up a script that had them involved in a relationship as part of an ongoing storyline on World Championship Wrestling, the newspaper said.

Benoit has two other children from a prior relationship.

To have Lashly end up vacating the ECW Championship mere weeks after McMahon 'dies' because Lashly was drafted away from ECW was utterly rediculouse, IMHO. It just dumbed down the entire angle for me after the draft.

The day I took these pictures Chris seemed in good spirits. He signed several kids autographs and posed for pictures with them. I've seen him wrestle several times and he always put on a great show.

He loves the fans and the fans love him.

On a side note (again): Is that a Wrestlemania 20 jersey he has on? And look at what Edge is wearing!!

Does anyone else find it creepy that Eddie and Chris, winning the biggest matches and Championships at Wrestlemania 20, have both passed away way too early?

Fox News is saying he killed Nancy and Daniel over the weekend and himself today. :dazzle: "Tha O Show," a wrestling podcast, says reliable sources have told them that they all died overnight because of a gas leak in the house.

 I just hope it's not the former. :( Oh, and the tribute show tonight was very well done... I am happy about Vince coming out and actually saying something. They just earned some respect back from me.

It has been ruled that the deaths of Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy and their son Daniel earlier today were the result of a double murder-suicide from within the home. WWE.com will have more as soon as it becomes available.

WWE.com is now reporting it as a double murder-suicide.

If this is true, I lost all respect for him. Anyone that can kill a seven year old child deserves NO respect.

Aww..I hope its about the gas leak..but the fact that he left and did not do the PPV for a family emergency makes me wonder..:(

I was also happy that Vince came out and talked..and I was crying watching all the wrestlers talk about the respect they had for him...

I also did not realize how young the little boy was..

EDIT:..Awww.I just read what James said...How unbelieveably sad....:(:(

If Chris really did it, killed his 7-year-old son and wife... I certainly will have lost all respect for him, and he will have just disappointed millions of fans. But really, it's just hard to think about him doing something like that, especially after hearing about how much he cared about his family and all the good things he did for everyone. Something's not right.

I am not a wrestling fan and don't know much about Benoit. But I live in Fayetteville, GA about 10 minutes away from where this happened and driven by the house many times before. I work at a pizza place and he has been in for food a few times. Our local paper is pretty much reporting the same thing the national news organizations have reported so far. The website for the Fayetteville paper is www.thecitizennews.com
