I think we should go with my idea of 3 rooms:
-Pixar Films
-Short Films
-And a room dedicated to Pixar's latest release (Starts in March, taken away same time next year, to keep things new.)

I like the new configuration of the three rooms, however, if you replace the "latest release" room into "Infinity and Beyond" (aka artwork from movies and shorts yet to be released or even announced) i'd be on board.

Bathroom (minus the sinks): http://www.blog.barnlightelectric.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/WashingtonBath.jpg
Chandeliers: http://artdecointeriordesign.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/art_deco_chandelier.jpg
Silverware: http://homeinteriordesignthemes.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/5-piece-art-deco-flatware-set.jpg
Table (just squish it down to size): http://www.stylebydesignltd.co.uk/Art Deco Table & Chairs.JPG

This one takes a little more explaination. I'm thinking of "framing" all of the clusters of pictures with either crown moulding or paint. This would work perfectly as the corner, just picture the the edges extending and meeting another circle at the next corner...

Are we doing additional wall art besides the concept art? Because if we are, I found some really great pieces. If not, we can use them in the Bathrooms.

Costumes: (Just have to be a little more work friendly.)
Ladies: http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/img-thing?.out=jpg&size=l&tid=2524145
Mens: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_OoHZm_rWprs/STnw4xZTlBI/AAAAAAAAB1c/-iZHgIhb4Fs/s400/timblog1.jpg

Well, I think that's a decent start. I need to figure out what I forgot though. Let me know if one of the links doesn't work.

amazing! My only comment is that the mens' costume should be simpler than that. It's going to feel horrid for the male servers if they have to wear these. Hosts, however...

as for the story debacle, I really don't think we need a complicated made up backstory. We can win more hearts by simply explaining that the restaurant represents the Legacy and promise of Pixar Animation Studios and the devotion to story and artistry upheld by its founders.

the restaurant itself would be like a pixar movie of its own from the opening studio tag (the white welcoming lobby), the short film (the shorts dining hall), the feature presentation (the main movies dining hall), to trailers of things to come (the future projects dining hall)

Ye, I'm with Stich here, not everything NEEDS a ridiculasly complex backstory, just a simple premise is fine, sometimes letting the guests draw there own story from what we opresent is just as rewarding and effective.

Sounds good.... I'll write that up.

So to sum up where we are:

Location & Name are done.
Design is pretty much done - have to decide on men's outfit.
Mathew is working on the menu.
Fig is working on the story.

Looking good!

Anything in particular I could contribute?

Also, I am in agreement that not everything needs a mythology attached to it. Simply saying that Luxo's represents the magic of Pixar would probably be good enough for any guest.

I'm not sure if MathewGW needs any help with menus, but that may be the only thing we still need.

Okay, here's what I have so far for the floorplan. Keep in mind I'm going for a basic view and will use circ's pics to create better detail. Three main rooms, white entry area, bar, bathrooms, centered kitchen and a supply area next to the bar.

Thoughts?

I'm not really sure about separating the guests in rooms per se, I was thinking that it would be one massive hall with different seating sections and the sections would then be the ones themed to shorts, movies and future projects. Something like this http://www.quantifiedmarketing.com/images/restaurant-floor-plan.jpg but on a more massive scale.
But then how would the people in the middle of the room know what section they are in? Would it have to be reflected in the floor and ceiling?

What if I move the kitchen to an outside wall, combine the 3 rooms, but add in smaller walls (not as tall as the outside walls and not as long) that can serve as dividers between the 3 themes? That would give more wall space for the concept art.

that would work perfectly!

...And I don't have to change anything! Yay! Thank you for the compromise! And if I'm picturing this correctly, there will be space between the wall and the ceiling for some models of characters...
I was just thinking that too. I was also thinking that the shorter dividers could be made of stained glass that has storyboards of a movie or short and then they are bookended by little display cases of the clay sculptures of the characters in the movie like this: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_GsJ0PZjfZPw/SfD4xCBmXKI/AAAAAAAAB7M/21KQEoo-7M4/s400/Carl+Sculpture1.jpg

I'm happy to do the menu guys, I was planning a full dinner menu, a lunch menu and a childrens menu, not too ott with the theaming, jus named dishes with a nod to the character/film/person it's named after. I'm gonna go fairly upscale with the food, IE more fine dining than fast food, but obviously keep it fairly to most tastes

how;s the menu coming?
