Chip & Dale's Imagineering Rangers - Project 2

guys I think we should keep it simple and classy and not too blatantly Pixar that it becomes cartoony

The story was cute but I don't like how it bashes on Toy Story Mania. I also think that clearly Pixar Place exists as a studio type area where the Pixar movies are made, rather than a place where the Pixar characters live so i don't buy the idea of the ratzenberg characters all suddenly existing outside their respective worlds and opening up a restaurant.

I think the story should be more of a tribute to John Lasetter and Ed Catmull, the people who started Pixar Animation Studios.

go back to the teaser for Wall-E where it was explained that the directors were all in a cafe drawing on napkins, brainstorming the then upcoming Pixar classics we know today. This restaurant is a tribute to that one moment where they were wrapping up Toy Story and the possibilites were endless for what's next.

The lobby could then be a very white room, a blank slate like a paper napkin or like the Pixar title card where the ideas start and then through a threshold we enter a world of story and imagination.

The rooms themed to different Pixar movies is pretty neat, but I'm not sure about the feasibility of it all considering Pixar releases a new movie every year.

I was thinking the interior of the restaurant could look something like this: http://la.eater.com/uploads/2008_01_Union rendering-thumb.jpg
but with each of the walls showing the complete color key story board of renowned Pixar films.

like this one done by Lou Romano for "Up" http://www.slashfilm.com/wp/wp-content/images/zz379bff23.jpg
here are some other examples:
Incredibles: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/223/490508049_c37233cd0e.jpg
http://farm1.static.flickr.com/41/82437267_2010d8fccd.jpg
Cars: http://2aday.files.wordpress.com/2007/12/storyboards-small.jpg
Finding Nemo: http://www.pixartalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/storyboards5.jpg
http://www.pixartalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/storyboards7.jpg

The different seating sections could be the ones divided by movie, represented by the table cloths or seat cushions upon which concept art of the designated movie grace it.

I love the idea of a fish tank with the fish from Finding Nemo in it.

For the food, whoever is taking care of it, I suggest looking at cuisine from the San Francisco Bay Area, which is where Pixar is.

The lobby as a blank canvas is fantastic. It would also give 'Sid' his inspiration he was looking for.

I think the fish tank would work really well even keeping it classy.

If we have the art up on the walls, I'm not sure we even need to do anything with the tablecloths and chairs. Maybe just a small hint of what film it is?

if we go with Luxo's each dish on the menu could be inspired by a Pixar movie. Like say a Ratatouille entree that looks exactly like the one in the Rataouille movie, a green tea ice cream concoction called a 'Wazowski', A barbeque pulled pork sandwich themed to Woody, Incredibles inspired cocktails, The 10 Pixar movies = 10 dishes.

For the Skyscraper one, i was thinking also a 50's era big band right in the middle where an actual band would play, and using the lighting and projection effects, various 'moods' can be conveyed according to the song being performed by the singer. say, when they sing 'Under the Sea' the entire restaurant turns an aqua green and bubbles are projected all over. Also, each dish could be based on the different cities repressented in the Streets of America.

For the Luxo place maybe the could show pixar short films?? Maybe each both or Table could be themed to a pixar movie??

Yeah, we don't need to do anything crazy with the tablecloths and chairs.

I was also thinking what good costumes the servers and staff would have?

Oh did anyone pm Mater that we're choosing Pixar Place?

we could also have two different menus:

*The adult menu which has dishes inspired by either the Pixar movies or the Pixar directors

*The children's menu which has dishes inspired by the Pixar short films.

random thoughts:

Boundin' could be the inspiration for a southwest style lamb dish.

and should we have different selections for lunch and dinner?

I was doing some research and apparently in Pixar, all over the main building there are hidden Remys all over the place: http://davidlenihan.com/site_files/windows_live_writer/PixarVisit_F897/P1020624_thumb.jpg how cute would it be if we had that all over our Luxo's.

WOW i am stunned at how amazing of an idea this is so could someone kinda give an outline of what we have now and did someone say something about everyone getting assigned tasks???

I'm happy to do the menu guys, I was planning a full dinner menu, a lunch menu and a childrens menu, not too ott with the theaming, jus named dishes with a nod to the character/film/person it's named after. I'm gonna go fairly upscale with the food, IE more fine dining than fast food, but obviously keep it fairly to most tastes

So, I have to think of a story about John Lasseter? I have no idea how I can do that.

I think that they should be a balcony type seating area that costs an extra fee. It could be Edna Mode's private seating area.

The lobby's blank canvas should at least have the drawings that were created that day. Honestly, I think a plain white wall would be weird, and most people wouldn't get it.

There could be a movie-specific centerpiece or something.

I think we should go with my idea of 3 rooms:
-Pixar Films
-Short Films
-And a room dedicated to Pixar's latest release (Starts in March, taken away same time next year, to keep things new.)

As for costumes--- there's gotta be a Pixar reference.

:lol:Ohhh, that is fantastic. I wish we could do that. Too bad it detracts from the whole fanciness thing...

The Remy was orginally shown around in a fancy restaurant? It would work perfect here.

Also, I think each item on the kid's menu should come with a Pixar ball.

This one takes a little more explaination. I'm thinking of "framing" all of the clusters of pictures with either crown moulding or paint. This would work perfectly as the corner, just picture the the edges extending and meeting another circle at the next corner...

Are we doing additional wall art besides the concept art? Because if we are, I found some really great pieces. If not, we can use them in the Bathrooms.

EDIT: I changed the mistaken url for the wall lights, this is what I orginally planned.
