...And I don't have to change anything! Yay! Thank you for the compromise! And if I'm picturing this correctly, there will be space between the wall and the ceiling for some models of characters...
yeah, the way I have it set up now, the walls are 12 feet high, so i'll probably chop the dividers down to 6 or 7

overall the space in the model is equal to the entire soundstage next TSMM; i'm figuring we can have a grand staircase leading up to the revolving door and the restaurant itself will be on at a level a few feet above the street

what did you have in mind for the models? I might have missed that, which is why I didn't leave any space to start :)

I was just thinking that too. I was also thinking that the shorter dividers could be made of stained glass that has storyboards of a movie or short and then they are bookended by little display cases of the clay sculptures of the characters in the movie like this: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_GsJ0PZjfZPw/SfD4xCBmXKI/AAAAAAAAB7M/21KQEoo-7M4/s400/Carl+Sculpture1.jpg
I'm not sure about the stained glass. Because the other room would be seeing the same concept art, except backwards.

I like that idea.

was also thinking that the Nemo-inspired aquarium could be located in the bar area. Which could be the space in the middle rather than a a private balcony.

I made up the models when I heard that there would be some dead space at the top of the walls. The models are exactly like stichcastle had posted.

I was also think one section should have booths for its seating.

you're right about the stained glass being backwards in the other room. maybe have the concept art be framed by glass? that way it still gives the effect of having a lot of space as well as providing two different sets of art on the wall rather than just one.

oh man, almost forgot the fish

so you're thinking an aquarium in the middle of the bar area? like in a stand alone case like this: http://www.aqua-dreams.com/mediac/400_0/media/Picture$20160.jpg

yes.

and depending on how big it is, we could have the landscaping in the aquarium tell the whole story of Finding Nemo, with, starting out as a reef that turns into ruins of a sunken submarine, turning into a tiki village like the dentists' office's aquarium that then turns into sunken model of Sydney.

or we could have 4 different aquariums, one made to look like the reef, one made to look like the dentists' aquarium, one with a sunken submarine in it, and one with a jellfyfish forest.

Can you explain that a little better? I can't quite picture it.

I KNEW I forgot something! I was thinking something a little more along the lines of http://media3.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/photo/2009/03/11/PH2009031103843.jpg

imagine a glass divider with with a giant painting in the middle but the sides are still see=through
OOOkay, I get it now. Thanks for the clarification. Yeah, that works, as long as the glass isn't too think. We don't want it to start looking like the glass blocks! That would definitely give the wrong idea. We could put this on the glass that is seen, as a border, to make it still art deco-y...

Alrighty, well I'm only going to be on for a little bit longer, and then you lose me until Monday (maybe I'll be on Monday, not sure. That's my actual bday, so I'll still be busy.) Any last questions while I'm still here?

I think we're good on design. Great work!

Happy Birthday as well!

Ah yes, one more question (and this time I won't get the answer)... We do have someone working on the menu, right? And by someone I mean someone who will give us his/her menu before we are scrambling to post?

EDIT: Never mind! Sorry if I offended you MathewGW, I forgot! Sorry!

Hey Guys here's the story:

In the summer of 1994, there was a lunch. All the main Pixar executives had been about finished with creating Toy Story. That day, they began to brainstorm ideas for new movies, which eventually became Bugs Life, Finding Nemo, Monsters Incorporated, and WALL E. 16 years later, the same executives returned to the same restaurant, ironically just before Toy Story 3 is released, to knock around some more ideas for future movies. Then, John Lasseter had another idea. "Guys," he said, "I know realize the true importance of this restaurant. If you think about it, the last time we were here, we laid out our entire business plan. I think we should purchase this restaurant and make it our own." So they did. After a short brainstorming session, the restaurant name "Luxo's", based on one of their mascots, was chosen. The executives then realized that they had way too much work on their hands to design a restaurant, so this responsibility was given to a team of Imagineers. Their task was to create the original Luxo's, and an exact counterpart in Pixar Place in Disney's Hollywood Studios. This task is currently in the process of being completed.

Looks good guys!

Does anyone want to work on some lunch or kids items?

We have about 5 hours left and look pretty much set. I'll try to get the finished product up in this thread a little early so that we can edit where need be.

Alright, here's where I am with the floorplan. Turns out the 2 hours or so I put in for the dividers, fish tank, bar was for not since I was doing it on the wrong layer and when I went 3D it was all 30 feet above the restaurant floor. Oh well.

I have some time right now if anyone has comments/suggestions, otherwise this will probably be the final plan.
