Chef Mickey's walk-in?

Chef Mickey's is completely book for the week I am going to be there (week after Thanksgiving).

There are four of us that REALLY want to go though.

Is there any chance if we went over there one morning like 7:30ish that we could wait to get in and just have to wait like... 45 minutes or something?

Or will we just legitimately not be able to get in since reservations are booked?

Any info on this would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

You can always try but I would not count on it especially if it is already booked solid. If you try have it have a back up plan. For said backup plan I would highly recommend Kona at the Poly.

If you are willing to be completely disappointed when they instantly respond that there are no walk-ins available!! Have a backup plan because you will need it.

I agree with previous posters, but we did walk-in to Crystal Palace last October on a weekend day. We walked up at 11AM and we seated by 11:20. My recommendation is to go extremely early for whichever meal you choose, and try breakfast or lunch over dinner. Also, keep trying every single day up until you leave to get a ressie.

You have to try either extremely early or extremely late for breakfast.

We went in July one year and when we were eating at 6 or 7 am (we were first book of the day don't remember time exactly) there were only a hand full of guests at Chef Mickey's. By the time we left 45 minute later the entire dinning room was almost full with new families. Late in the day is so close to lunch and so much after rope drop that most people don't want that reservation.

Absolutely. I find that walk ups work best for us at dinner - because we can go before we are starving and wait until our table is ready. BUT if you can handle not eating for 20 or 30 minutes until you are seated for breakfast then go for it.

We take many unexpected trips to Disney where I would have had NO idea 180 days before that I would be sitting at the Contemporary that night. So there was no way for me to make an ADR. So we walk up all the time. They only place we've ever been turned down was at CRT on Easter weekend (and it seems like there might have been one more.... but I can't remember right now!)

The week after Thanksgiving could be tough. My family scored a walk-up at like 7:20-ish in the morning back in January 2009. Honestly, I think it was a total fluke. We didn't wait hardly at all either. I'd say if you're going to try it get there as soon as you can and cross your fingers. Never hurts to try. Good luck!

You never know....I'd try it, be very early and have a back up plan. (I like the idea of hopping the monorail to either Kona or Grand Floridian for plan b.) I agree with the trying every day for an ADR. You never know when someone will have the decency to actually call to cancel, opening up a spot for you. :)

7:30ish would probably be to late. You would need to either be there when they opened, or possibly at the very end of the breakfast time slot. And even then during that time slot the odds are probably pretty slim.

There is always the chance of them accepting a walkup, but it depends on how the service for that meal is running, and if they have any cancellations. Obviously if people are running slow, then you won't get in, but if people are taking less time than estimated, or if people cancel you might get lucky.

Why don't you watch the reservations between now and when you leave...you've got, what, 80-90 days till then?

With that amount of time, I've secured fireworks-time ADRs at both cali grill and rose and crown....Dinners at CRT, Le Cellier, Breakfasts at Chef Mickeys and Crystal Palace

You have to be diligent and search for ADRs a few times a day.....but it's certainly possible.
