I currently have reservations for my December Trip at both Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater at MGM and Le Cellier Steakhouse at Epcot, and am planning to add Chef Mickey's to my stay also.

I'm looking for any feedback that any of you might have on any of these restaurants...the good and the bad. I've been to Sci-fi before but none of the others. But all feedback is good!

We had our son's birthday at Chef Mickey's last year. I found the food to be mediocre, but it's great for the kids. They had a section in the buffet just for them...mac n cheese, nuggets, etc. The adult food was like I said, OK. The dessert buffet was great for kids AND adults...alot to choose from. The biggest benefit of them all is getting to see Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and Pluto without having to stand in SUPER long lines. Everybody gets personal time with them and to the CM's that evening that were Goofy, Donald and Pluto...THANK YOU!!! Their interactions with the kids were wonderful!:sohappy: .
A friend of mine SWEARS by Le Cellier. She is a seasoned Disney veteran and it is her very favorite restaurant. I trust her judgement, although I have never eaten there myself. From everything I have heard it is one of the best restaurants on Disney property.
Have a wonderful trip!

Never been to Le Celliar buit have heard nothing but rave reviews. I would say try to get in for breakfast at Chef Mickeys...IMHO the best Character breakfast going. Haven't been for dinner but have heardothers say same as previous post.

Depending on when your going in Dec......Good luck getting those ADRs!!!!

You can also sort of do lunch at Chef Mickey's if you make a late reservation for about 11:00 - 11:30.
It will still be breakfast food but may fit into your schedule better.

Good luck.

I think you've made some great choices and adding Chef Mickey's will be icing on the cake. We've only done dinners at Chef Mickey's and we love it. We love the large selection and quality of the buffet. The party atmosphere is so much fun and I feel the character interaction is some of the best you'll find.
Le Cellier is another "must do" for us. The ambiance is so cozy and relaxing. The food is incredible. We love the cheese soup and I always get the filet with those delicious potatoes. We've always had really great service, too. We are actually eating 2 meals at Le Cellier during our trip in December! Have a great trip and enjoy some yummy cuisine! :slurp:

We've done the Chef Mickey's breakfast twice. It's lots of fun, with a large selection of food. I think next year we'll try the dinner, for something different. Have fun! :)

Chef Mickey's breakfast is a lot of fun! I highly recommend it.

We have never had breakfast at Chef Mickeys but we LOVE the dinner there. It's so much fun. We also love 50's PrimeTime cafe, 1900 Park Fair, Coral Reef, & Whispering Canyon Cafe.

I hope you have a great time!!

Well to be honest we USED to like Chef Mickeys but last trip we felt it truly went downhill and vowed to never go back. It was pure bedlam and despite a reservation we waited 45 minutes. The food was not worth the price...not what we had remembered and my husband noted it was rather on the cold side. Their dessert buffet is excellent though. There are just so many other places that we felt are much better for food and experience...on a similar style I would always choose Crystal Palace and stay in the Kingdom over Chef Mickeys if a buffet in that area is what you seek. For more fun with the kids the Whispering Canyon Cafe is a hoot and the food is EXCELLENT....non buffet but better value for the price...they include the children in alot of fun. :king:

Thanks for all of the advice so far! I was starting to feel great about Chef Mickey's until TINKWINGS posted her reply! Anyone else had a bad experience there before?

I'm looking for any other restaurant suggestions too! Something out of the ordinary. It's just me any my girlfriend going, we're both 19, so we don't have to worry about any kids yet! But that doesn't mean we don't enjoy the "kid atmosphere" of a place like Chef Mickey's.

We almost ate a Whispering Canyon last year but weren't hungry enough and it looked like they had a real abreviated menu. Are there any websites that have the menus for each of the restaurants?

We love Chef Mickey's. We've done both breakfast and dinner. It was great at both meals. We also liked Liberty Tree Tavern at MK. The food is what you would have on Thanksgiving. We liked 1900 Park Fare (Cinderella dinner) too. I guess it all depends on what type of meal you want. Le Cellier is awesome. My hubby is looking forward to eating there again when we go in late 2008/2009.

We love Mickey's Dinner. We're not much of a breakfast family, so we always do the dinner.

The food can be very good. The pasta is pretty good, the roast beef if done well and they usually have a really nice chicken. It's a staple each and every trip along with Ohana's, which if you're looking for someplace to eat, that's another great time.

allearsnet.com has most of the menu listings. WCC has wonderful food, and a fun atmosphere. We also had breakfast at Chef Mickey's and found it to be OK - loved seeing the characters there. I think most restaurants can be hit and miss at times. You never know till you try!

We love Chef Mickey for breakfast. It had a wonderful food. We also like Crystal Palace (Pooh characters). I like the breakfast but the rest of the "gang" liked dinner, so this trip it is CM for breakfast and CP for dinner.

Sorry to say we did not like either Sci-Fi or Whispering Canyon. My husband could not even eat his meal at Sci-Fi. I do know that lots of people on here have had great experiences at both.

We have never tried Sci-Fi, but are planning to snack there one night during our Sept. trip - I have heard mixed reviews on this one.
We also have never tried Le Cellier, but I have read many good reviews about it.
We have done & will do Chef Mickey's dinner again - it was great!
:D

My husband and I did Chef Mickey's dinner ... I didnt know it was a buffet until we arrived and I wasnt all that impressed ... plus it is definately kid oriented ... I had no idea what was going on when everyone started swinging their napkins over their head! The characters were great though ... They still stopped at our table even though we didnt have kids ... and they brought us a cupcake for our honeymoon with a candle ... along with the little girl next to us celebrating her birthday! It was okay to try once, but I probably wont be going back ...

As stated above, www.allearsnet.com has updated menus on WDW dining, they also have reviews so they may help you make some decisions.

Some of our favorites include:

Le cellier
Whispering Canyon Cafe (for adults and kids!)
O'Hana at the Poly (one of my favorites, not my DH)
Liberty Tree Tavern in MK....the character interaction is fantastic and the food is very good
Crystal Palace in MK....we love eating breakfast here, great way to start your day at the MK.

I know you will have a great trip!

I've done the character breakfast at Chef Mickey's and had a great time. It's a real party atmosphere. It can get a bit loud at times but that stuff doesn't bother me. In fact, I rather enjoy it.

Le Cellier is my favorite restaurant at WDW. I eat there every time I visit. You will enjoy it there immensely.

I've never eaten at the Sci-Fi. I was trying to get an ADR for there on my upcoming trip but couldn't get one that fit into my schedule with the other ADRs I have. I'm hoping to get lucky and get walk-in while I'm there but I'm not counting on it.

The Walk-In wait is usually about 3hrs long. I tried that last December (during the value season) the hostess said they were only using 4 tables for walk-in reservations. But call back every week or so. I made my reservation for Sci-Fi back in June for my December trip, but just moved it last week because I extended my trip by a day. Don't give up hope! I've also noticed the more you talk up the rep on the phone, the more willing they are to squeeze you in or find a way to fit it in on another day.
