Cheerleaders: Respect the Guests!

uhh...The standing backtuck isn't the problem...it's the hip gyrating you're seeing happening on a younger and younger level. I'm fine with college and pro cheerleaders doing it...but when you have high school girls doing it, it's time to rethink things.

No squad will score well with hip gyrating. I hardly have seen any of that at any competition.

As a former cheerleader, and a member of the color guard, I saw first hand how BOTH competitive marching band and cheerleading are very intense, physical activities.

And the definition of a sport as having physical contact? If you miss a catch in a football game, you drop the ball. You miss a catch in a cheerleading stunt, you miss a person. A lot more damage.

I think the bottom line here is not connected to cheerleading or marching band or pop warner football...etc. It is simply large groups of kids with too few, or ineffective, chaperones who are acting exactly the way I would expect a large group of teenagers to act when not supervised!! Their behavior is not limited to their "sport" or "activity", it is their behavior....period. And let's face it, while they may not have been yelling cheers, there were large groups of adults acting like a*****es at Food and Wine this year. Old or young, when people are rude and inconsiderate, it can ruin the event for everyone.

A distant cousin of Nahtazu?

Very distant niece who wears short skirts and carries pom poms.
She's a couple bricks short of a full load, but she's so darned bouncy cute.
Ya gotta love her.

All you cheer moms, don't have a cow.
I'm just kidding....................

You keep your head down crossing the blue line, you miss consciousness, the ability to feed yourself...

Now if the cheerleaders from an opposing squad could take down the 'catchers' while somebody is in mid-air...all you'd need is ice and sticks and you've got HOCKEY!!! Now we're talking! At least with hockey, I don't feel like a perve watching...

As a former softball player for 10 years and a cheerleader for 5 years...i will say that cheerleading is not a sport. Just an activity really. Yes, while the competitions require intense time and skill, it just isnt the same as a real sport...sorry.

And that about sums it up. Any group of people, at any age, with any interests, can ruin the enjoyment of those around them who are not a part of "the group."

I can't imagine that anything additional can, or should, be said on the subject.
