Chatham or Vista?

I know that this question has been asked a million times, but I'm going to add a twist on it. I will not be able to bring my car down:mad: so for someone without a car which complex would be better considering, places to walk to and the bus system?

Thanks

I have done the CP 3 times, and have been without a car all 3 times. I stayed at Chatham each program. I like the way the bus system is set up for Chatham (most of the buses go to/ stop at Chatham first). The only downside is that there really isn't anything near Chatham the way it is at Vista (next to Vista is a Walgreens, Wendys, ect). But even with that I still stay at Chatham.

I did Vista on my program with no car and it's definitely convenient to be able to walk across the street to go to the store or get a bite.

I think when I was on the program, there were several locations you couldn't get to directly from Chatham. You had to take a bus over to Vista and transfer. Not sure how much that really adds to travel time, but it might be another consideration.

From my observations, Vista is like the center of all things College Program. Classes, special events, parties, etc. are all there. I had my truck, so I never took the busses.

However, I can see all that changing when Patterson Court opens, and Vista is the lone housing complex outside of Little Lake Bryan. The Commons, Chatham, Patterson, and Mickey's Retreat are all within short walking distance.

I choose Chatham because IMO, it's the nicest, but I'm sure Patterson will claim that mantle soon.

Agreed. I hope Patterson will be open by May 19.:lookaroun

Sweet! I am thinking of doing the CP in Spring 2009. Can you tell me anything else about Patterson?

I am probably going to do Spring 2009 too (if I graduate in Dec, which is most likely)!

I don't know too much about Patterson, only that it is still under construction. I will go check the HUB to see if there is any new info on there.

Thanks! I would love to hear any info. you can find on it. Housing has been something I have gone back and forth on, so maybe Patterson will be the one. Glad to hear of someone who may be going the same time as me!

I just checked the HUB. The info there has not been updated. But it should be opened no later then Fall 2008 (hopefully. Don't want to jinx it).

And yeah, I am really looking forward to Spring 2009. I will be done with school, and I plan on going FT after the CP is over.

Well, when I left on January 4th, Patterson wasn't anywhere close to being finished...all just framed up buildings with walls. I say that Fall 2008 is the safest bet...maybe the summer if they're hurting for capacity like they were this past Fall when I was there.

As for current options, there is no debate on which place is the nicest, it's Chatham. If you live to party, etc. choose Vista. If you like the quiet life and a nice, newer, better apartment, choose Chatham...even the grounds are nicer and it's across from Mickey's retreat which is the Cast recreation area. I only went to Vista when I had to (Check-in and Classes) and I really didn't care for it. Chatham is a pleasure to live at. You can party when you go back to school... I had a blast, and I never drank one drop of alcohol and never attended one party. If you're looking for a good time, go to the Adventurers Club at PI on Thursday nights...Kungaloosh!

Thanks:wave:

I would see all of these people risking everything by partying and drinking underage and breaking rules, and it never made sense to me. We had the PRIVILEGE to spend an entire semester at the most magical place on Earth, and people were willing to throw it all away because "life's all about partying." To each their own I guess, but that mindset doesn't make sense to me. Guess I'm just a goody goody.

I'm also amazed at how many people never really went to the parks or knew nothing about what was going on at a park they didn't work at. It's hard to expect the guests to know things when CM's don't even know or give them wrong information.

Yeah, I don't get it either. There are many, many companies they won't be able to work for if they are fired from Disney.

As for, I have not had one drop of alcohol during my 3 programs, and I plan on keeping it that way over my next 2. If that makes me a dork, then I guess I am a dork.

Yeah, I'll be 21 when I get down there, but I plan on requesting a wellness apartment anyway. Is there a reason that Vista is always the party place? Is it because they have more rec. type offerings? Also, I was hoping to interview early for the Spring '09 program. I know that Fall '08 is the earliest, but does anyone know approx. when that would be? (like early/late Aug?)
