Hello!

We're trying to decide which character meals we'd like to get ADRs for. On our last trip, we did Crystal Palace, Garden Grill, and Hollywood and Vine. We're open to returning to Garden Grill, but not to eager for the other for various reasons. At any rate, we might as well try soemthing new.

So, here is what we're factoring in. No princesses--3yo boy who has zero interest in them. And we'd prefer lunch or dinner. We're on the DDP, and we'd like to use our snack option for breakfast for maximum savings. The Pop has awesome giant cinnamon rolls for the snack option. We are open to leaving the parks and goign to resorts for the meals.

Any suggestions?

Well, I would have said Crystal Palace as it's our favorite, but you said no to that one. I would suggest Cape May Cafe for breakfast with Minnie, Goofy and Donald in their bathing suits. We are trying for the first time next year 1900 Park Fair at the GF with Mary Poppins, Alice, Mad Hatter and Pooh and Tigger.

Oh there are so many good ones! how about Chef Mickey? Or Ohana? Crystal Palace is always good if you are going to be at MK. 1900 Park fare is one of our faves but I believe dinner is Cinderella. There's Liberty tree but not for next year - I'm not sure when you are going. Have a great trip!! :slurp:

My own son has an aversion to the princesses as well ... I feel for parents of boys-only as there are not as many options.

Just for the heck of it, I'm going to include breakfasts since not all restaurants have the characters for lunch/dinner. My son has liked:

Ohana's Best Friends Breakfast (Stitch and pals -- breakfast only)
Donald's Safari at Tusker House (breakfast only)
Garden Grill (dinner)
Chef Mickey's (any)
Cape May (characters at breakfast only)

Just a suggestion, but have you though about themed restaurants that are fun even without characters ... 50's PrimeTime, Whispering Canyon, Ohana's (dinner), etc?

I'd go with Liberty Tree if it's still available then. My mother and I just had dinner there for the first time and expressed to management how much we enjoyed it! The food was very good, but more importantly, the character interaction was incredible. Not only did they take their time at each table, they also followed a very strict path/pattern. (I've seen it at other places where it just turns into a mess with kids running up, tables being missed, etc.) The pattern was so secure, that during our hour there, we were visited 2x's by EACH character.

FYI--We did get feedback from mgt about the discontinuation of the character meal. They said as of right now, they feel it will be temporary as they were blown away by the feedback/outrage of it going to non-character meal. Hopefully by the New Year, all will be right. LOL

As a mother of 2 boys, I thank you for your post :sohappy:
My 4yo really enjoyed Liberty Tree Tavern on our last trip. We did Chef Mickey's before and he really like it too. We just did CRT for dinner on our last trip and it was definately not too girlie (that is except for all the little girls in costumes). He has even asked if we could go back on our next trip. My borther this summer took his 3 boys to breakfast at Cape May and said it was alot of fun for his kids. I also know people wo have told me that breakfast at Ohana is another good one for boys though we haven't tried it.

Thanks for all the responses. We may end up trying Crystal Palace again after all, so we can avoid breakfast. We just got such terrible service there last time that we wanted to avoid if we could. We are going to do one or two meals at themed restaurants, as well, we just wanted to load up on the character meals.
