Didn't know the characters had been so varied in the past, and so predictable now. Makes me wonder what MNSSHP could be if they plussed it a bit.

They've had lots of characters in past years. Rolie Polie Olie and Zoe were out in 2003. Gaston, Stromboli and other villains have appeared as well. Thumper and Sora in 2004.

There are lots of characters in special events that could appear but Disney never brings them out. It's always the same old same old.

Add me to the list of people that have gone the last few years and skipping it this year... made other and better plans (DLP) for Halloween figuring we wouldn't miss anything new... and now I am sad to see that confirmed (but kinda glad we won't miss anything LOL)... if they went back to more random and extra characters we would probably be there almost every year... as of now it is something I don't mind skipping for the foreseeable future :\

They have Mr Walrus, Abu, Tarzan and Jane Porter and that's about it now. And they've had them out for the last 3-4 years.

Who knows....maybe Disney mngt will see this and bring some different characters out for the party. Doubtful though.

In regards to Flik, I've heard no word on them taking him out, but it doesn't surprise me. Apparently the costume vendor we use stopped making Flik costumes and so all we have are the costumes we currently have until they special make more Fliks. Since Flik is mostly spandex, he rips all the time, so we've had to cut down the number of Fliks going out just because we don't have the costumes. It doesn't surprise me that they'd take him out until we got new costumes in, which from what my manager says could be another year.

Thanks for the update, but I'm really disappointed to hear this about the continued staleness of the Halloween party. It amazes me every year that they don't bother to change anything. You'd think the mix of characters would be the easiest thing to change. They've been bringing out the "ultra rare" Tarzan and Jane for the last 4 years or so... but why not change those two up at least. How great would it be to see Hercules and Meg instead??? I guess they just don't realize how many more tickets they'd sell if they'd just bother to change up the characters a little bit! I'm going this year but only because we have family going who have never been. We've been for the past four years and would not be going back otherwise -- unless of course news came out of some different characters being there. Then we'd go in a heartbeat. From the sounds of it I'm not alone.

I agree that the Halloween parties do need to make some more changes or additions to their character meet-and-greet line-ups.

For example, they need to go back to bringing out more of the villians for meet-and-greets like the Big Bad Wolf, Stromboli, Gaston, Hades, Pain & Panic, Shan-Yu, Ratcliffe, Don Karnage, Fat Cat, Ratigan, etc.

Also, IMO, some of the characters that are mostly confined to the Boo-to-You Parade (especially the harder-to-find ones like Clarabelle, Horace, Clara Cluck, the Country Bears, the Brers, Jack Sparrow, etc.) need to come out for meet-and-greets at the parties as well.

They even need to start having Jack Skellington & Sally at those parties for meet-and-greets as well. DL and DLP have them, so WDW should get them too.

Just wanted to pass this along-
Supposedly for Boo to You parade there will be some type of new graveyard float.
