The odds are extremely thin at this point if you haven't traveled overseas recently.

PS- everyone needs to just not panic and wash their hands often and it might fade out.
That is completely not accurate.

The odds of you being a CARRIER were zero if you haven’t traveled overseas in the last few months...

Until some carriers did end up stateside - which was a given especially since China, Korea, Japan and Western Europe are the flash points - then spread was inevitable.

What we don’t know is where it’s gone from there...as the public response has been wholly inadequate. Irresponsible and borderline criminal, frankly.

Its now shifting to person-to-person transmission (remember its 3X as infectious as the flu). Most people in the medical field expect it to grown exponentially. Even Disney is caving in to reality here in the US with Disneyland closing. I'd expect the first case that shows up in Orange or Osceola counties in Florida will prompt closures here,

Yeah...none of what you typed actually makes any sense...

But the count is only 0-1, you get two more strikes ⚾

Well, his batting average is 0.000. ;)

Exposure rate is likely far greater than anyone is willing to say publicly right now. It's an airborne spreader - once it got out of China, it went everywhere.

Hell, if Disney stock hits $15-20/share, I'm digging up some cash and buying as much as I can.

The virus isn’t going away...the recession isn’t going away...

My wild prediction currently is $40 by the end of next year. Just a hunch

I could see in the future a number of car dealers flooded with used cars for sale.
You mean on those 7 year loans that millennials and lower income have been taking out?

Maybe.

Wonder if the timeshare store will try to sell 48% of a used Beach Club DVC contract for $160 a point now?

Okay, I checked the news, and they are saying that it starts on the 14th and will go on through April. Jeez...
There is no “temporary closures”

This is all planned to allow for biology to equalize itself and have time for the Health officials maybe to develop a response scenario.

A two day closure does nothing...not a thing

This is the long game...

And if you’re worried - you need to mentally prepare for news out of Orlando as well.

There would be much more suffering by overreacting. It is disgusting to politicize this. But not surprising the people who are. Power is their game and they have no shame.
It’s 100% fair to legitimately raise praise and grievances towards leadership in a crisis. Government, corporate, school boards, wherever. It’s not their fault for a crisis (this the name...), but the response DOES matter and shows an adequate government that actually does it’s job instead of it running by the market and established government alone.

We need to trust facts and not be as partisan and we must actively avoid propaganda, sensationalism, and fake information, and be willing to be wrong, and cross parties in a vote. This has been rapidly accelerated in the last four years, but that would overly simplify it. It’s really been on since the 1960’s, then 90’s, then 2010, and since Trump’s election.

Ideologues have ruined American government from functioning. I just hope they don’t ruin American businesses either. The timing of WDW/DL’s closing suggests they were feeling pressure from state governments and the cancellations of events recently, but wanted to milk out this last weekend. Hey at least Rise will have awesome uptime when they’re done with it!
Side Note: I’m surprised people are acting like this will just magically end. It takes a China style lockdown to virtually halt its spread. Think that will fly here at these current numbers? Think again.

If we assume a conservative estimate that a third of the US can get this without slowing its spread we have a problem with overcrowded hospitals which means the death rate will be high. I don’t want to see a lot of old people dying. There’s no flu vaccine to prevent its spread, and this virus has proven very dangerous without enough hospital capacity to the millions of older individuals and health-issues folks in other westernized countries.

Check my post history, I said we were heading into a recession over a month ago, and I’ve been warning people of COVID-19’s severity using fact-based models and my understanding of what was going on. People either blinded by ideology, biased sources, or irrationally overreacting/under reacting showed me the scope of ignorance in this country. There’s no counter-evidence (which is required to refute evidence) that says this will halt in the summer, it may slow down, but there’s just no evidence that suggests it won’t be around 12 months from now. Why should entertainment facilities re-open en mass a few weeks from now? Schools are done for the semester, etc. as to do otherwise would just increase its spread again. Just at Costco today you see legitimate panic and it’s like, well, if you would’ve been smart and researched yourself and not fallen for propaganda would have been cool, calm, and collective, and done what was needed months ago.
Anyway, I’m not going to write about this subject anymore on this forum or anywhere else online. I’m ready to move on and focus on actually doing what I can to help people.

I just ask my fellow American, and world citizens that we stay away from partisan sources that declare an us vs. them mentality so common today that allows conspiracy theories and rejects an objective truth.

I hope this post doesn’t get deleted, but it’s not my loss. I’m frankly optimistic about the world!

I suspect that the usual people on these boards who have been consistently spreading the sky is falling doom for many many years are suddenly filled with "optimism" is they finally have the crisis they have been hoping for.

Flee these people. Their solutions never work.

The best way you can help people is practical advise and not advocating for a tighter grip on every aspect of their lives. We see you.

If you think the economic damage from this crisis doesn't have the potential to be worse than the virus itself, think again. All the elderly we're trying to prevent from catching the virus? They need to be able to keep their savings. Young families that might be cash-strapped because they're single-income for a little while? Yeah...they'd like to keep their homes. Most Americans don't have the ability to take 2-4 weeks off of work un-paid without severe consequences. And don't say "get a better job" because unless you happen to be extraordinarily lucky or work in a field in which jobs vastly outnumber people looking for them, that's easier said than done.

I 100% agree that the economic impact of all of this will be more impactful than the virus itself. Many individuals, families, small businesses, and even some large corporations will never fully recover. Developing programs to aid those economically impacted should absolutely be a priority but not the only one and certainly not the primary one at this time.

Get well, Liz

It’s at $95...down 35% from the 2/26 price.

By the way...if the market continues to fall and full recession kicks in...the stock will fall to the $40’s.

Don’t believe me? How do I know? I’m CRAZY!!!??

...lessons of history
When I sold off my limited number of Disney stock the price had stayed at a whopping $25 per share. Of course after I sold, things started upward. It stayed at the price for years before I sold it.

EDIT: I give up. I realize no matter what I do it's a wasted effort and time on my part. I'm quitting the forums for a while or indefinitely and other social media alike. It was a nice run everyone but now with the parks closing for a while, the fun discussions & info about the parks have been overshadowed by false statements regarding a serious issue. I'm a positive person and I actually feel like this is rubbing off on me in the wrong way. I've never been big into online forums where most hide behind the anonymity of the internet and with that accountability, so I'll spend my time more wisely from now on including time helping people. It's not because of any one person (trolls or otherwise), but I think it's a good move for me. Take care! I really do wish everyone the best!

Sometimes virtual social distancing is the best. Take the positive of spending uninterrupted time with your family that one will never likely have again.when all of this is over and life goes on.
