Well they added a sesame land and a good solid new ride this year…and another headliner coming I believe?

Gee…and managed to “find the money” before, during and after the great plague 🙄
I don’t want to be too hard on Sea, because ultimately it’s just a different beast than Disney… you can still get an annual pass at Sea for a low price, so I don’t want to compare the two. But ultimate Sea did also shut down what was supposed to be their premier ride (Antarctica) and didn’t replace it with anything.

SeaWorld also closed the very fun Curse of DarKastle ride in Busch Williamsburg and didn’t replace it.

SeaWorld is Six Flags with better landscaping.

It’s a bit better than that.

But AB parks have been sold too many times…and the backlash from a documentary has been catastrophic. Still very good amusement parks all in all.

But they don’t take 5 years to build a ride…and that has value too.

That’s fair, I think the key phrase is “amusement park”… with an aquarium attached. More importantly than the quick ride construction - for those interested, they can still buy an AP there without selling the children they intended to take there and their left kidney as well.

Look, we can be mad at Chapek and also admit that Six Flags, Cedar Fair, and Sea World - while they may make admirable efforts - are really not in the same ballpark as Disney. They’re really a wholly different thing for a wholly different consumer.

And the only reason for that is the actions of people who were there long before current management.

Just try to imagine if any of these Florida parks had been developed under the Bobs...

Chapek didn’t build the Disney parks. The infrastructure and most of the actual substance were built by Roy O through Michael D. (In Orlando at least)

Well?...the board sent a CLEAR message to all. They voted uninamously to renew Chapek. I think this was a powerfull message to every executive at Disney. Chapek is NOT the "lame duck" that he was before this vote. He now has the authority to make the clean-out changes that they want him to make.

I think they gave him a covid do over, waiting to see if he can redeem himself to perform the role of the face of TWDC the next three years
