He plays these rubes like a fiddle. He learned from watching Cynthia Harris during his time at Disneyland as a young exec (yes, he was on her team). All you have to do is pander to these "fans" by wandering through the park, take some selfies, post scripted blurbs on Instagram, and you get the reflexive, guaranteed "OMG, Josh is SO amazing! I saw him walking through Downtown Disney and he stopped to take a photo with me!". Like. A. Fiddle.
Meanwhile, he gets the complete free pass to lower the standards in the park, rollout Genie+ so you get to pay $18/person to ride a ride (after you've paid to get in), make you walk a mile and half at Disneyland because there no trams (for absolutely no reason), open the parks with minimal entertainment, etc, etc, etc.
Here is the Disney "fan" thinking:
- I like it. Therefore it is Josh.
- I hate it. Therefore it is Chapek.
It's hilarious to watch in every thread.
BTW, I had multiple friends tell me that Pressler used to openly talk about (and Josh I'm sure was paying attention at the time) how he was the "bad guy" and Cynthia was "the good guy" and she would simply need to walk around hugging these sad, needy people at merchandise events every once in a while and they would eat it up. With. A. Spoon.
NOTE: I am not criticizing him AT ALL for this - he is simply reading the crowd, pandering to their need for some impression of self-importance, and then laughing his a#$ off at them on the way back to his office where he gets back to his real job. And for that, they LOVE him and he gets zero blame no matter what he does. That, my friends, is genius.
