Chapek and D'Amaro continue the tradition of no bonus or Christmas gift for Disney's Cast Members

But for majority of the cast that are on the front line doing all the heavy lifting this year, they don't see any of that. The end result is they get next to nothing.
They don’t see their recognition events? That’s not true at all, the events are literally held for them.

Which also isn’t really true as DPEP cast are given a holiday celebration package along with their areas hosting holiday recognition.
The holiday celebration pack is basically discounts on Disney products and services, so the Cast Member has to give Disney part of their paycheck back to use it. The parts that don't require spending money are rather insulting, like a few free packs of popcorn, but of course subject to blockout dates. They even pushed the holiday eligibility date of merchandise discounts back this year.

Yeah, a lot of the cast are working when those things take place, or it is their day off. Not saying they don't happen, but they fall a long way short of making the front line cast feel like they are worth anything.

Aren't there about 80,000 CM employed by Disney. Seriously, you think that any company will pay bonus's to that many employee's or especially since most of them are part time anyway. I'll agree... Fake Outrage. I worked for close to 50 years in part time and full time positions and they never gave out bonus's to the rank and file.
Maybe something like Disney+, ESPN+ or Genie+? Things that cost the company VERY little, but would be a nice gesture to the cast members that are going through a rough time at work.

and you know what would happened?? the very thing that happens here. Disney gives them a short subscription and the next outcry would be how they could have given them the money instead of tv subscription.
I can hear it now, on this site. "most poor cm's don't have time to watch tv" or "those poor cm's don't watch sports so it's a useless gift" or "Bob got a gabillon dollars and all we get is ______"

When was the last time Disney gave out a christmas bonus? Is it something that was usually given out?

I know plenty of front line hourly Cast Members that could not attend their own service anniversary event or other recognition event because 1) their area would not grant them the time off and they had to work during the event and 2) they simply could not afford the cost of a free event (dress clothes, extra childcare, transportation costs, etc)

The yearly gifts they used to give were nice, but ultimately they did not benefit those who needed something the most. Sure the ornaments or books were nice and better than nothing. But honestly just take cost of production for these items (or the local area "parties") and just give the front line Cast Members the cash. Let them decide the best way to utilize their holiday gift. If you are struggling to put food on the table for your family, do you really care about a Disney branded Christmas ornament or book?

Sorry but the same could be said for every company out there.

Everyone could use the cash more than the turkey dinner cooked by the cafeteria. That's just not what happens.

I believe the last time I asked some CM friends, they could choose benefits between a couple guest passes and getting the Disney bundle for a year. No idea other than some secondhand hearsay.

As just another voice in the crowd, I know that they were giving out 1-night stays to CMs in the last year as a kind of perk. I do not think it is too crazy for them to commit to something like this again but I doubt it will happen.

My husband's boss is the Scrooge of Scrooges. His idea of a pep talk is "you guys need to work harder, I need a bigger boat". This is not an exaggeration - he literally said that to the guys once.

To our utter shock, this boss has been more generous the last two years at Christmastime than we thought he ever would be. Not "we're putting in a swimming pool!" generous, but generous, nonetheless.

That boss maybe is thankful? for a very good profitable year and supporting his lifestyle .

People still get bonuses in Christmas gifts from their employers? I have not gotten a Christmas bonus or gift in my entire 20-year career working for various companies.
And God bless Tiny Tim...
New Disney Parks Chairman Josh D'Amaro is continuing with the tradition of giving absolutely nothing to the Cast Members for Christmas. In a year when many have been pushed to breaking point and moral is at an all-time low, there is nothing from the company to give any hint of appreciation, unless of course we count this Christmas message from Josh. I'm sure the cast are glad to hear he is proud of them for making the company billions once again.

He plays these rubes like a fiddle. He learned from watching Cynthia Harris during his time at Disneyland as a young exec (yes, he was on her team). All you have to do is pander to these "fans" by wandering through the park, take some selfies, post scripted blurbs on Instagram, and you get the reflexive, guaranteed "OMG, Josh is SO amazing! I saw him walking through Downtown Disney and he stopped to take a photo with me!". Like. A. Fiddle.

Meanwhile, he gets the complete free pass to lower the standards in the park, rollout Genie+ so you get to pay $18/person to ride a ride (after you've paid to get in), make you walk a mile and half at Disneyland because there no trams (for absolutely no reason), open the parks with minimal entertainment, etc, etc, etc.

Here is the Disney "fan" thinking:

- I like it. Therefore it is Josh.
- I hate it. Therefore it is Chapek.

It's hilarious to watch in every thread.

BTW, I had multiple friends tell me that Pressler used to openly talk about (and Josh I'm sure was paying attention at the time) how he was the "bad guy" and Cynthia was "the good guy" and she would simply need to walk around hugging these sad, needy people at merchandise events every once in a while and they would eat it up. With. A. Spoon.

NOTE: I am not criticizing him AT ALL for this - he is simply reading the crowd, pandering to their need for some impression of self-importance, and then laughing his a#$ off at them on the way back to his office where he gets back to his real job. And for that, they LOVE him and he gets zero blame no matter what he does. That, my friends, is genius.
