Changes coming to Rose & Crown?

We love Spice Road table and Nomad Lounge because of the small plates. A pub type atmosphere with drinks and appetizers would be far preferable to the full meal prix fixe nonsense going on now.
And those bars mix a proper drink. You can get a good selection of middle of the road spirits! I laugh every time someone refers to their 'bartender' at Ogas or Cava..

Jac Chirac lost the 2012 Olympics by saying that the only country with worse food than the UK was finland. The Finnish delegate changed his vote from Paris to London

Belgian food is a better quality version of french fare. Lots of chocolate, fries and beer plus waffles whats not to love! I’d recommend brussels fora quick visit from dlp interesting and different vibe to Paris and London
If Jac Chirac went to World Showcase years ago he may vote Norway as the worst food. I actually liked the lunch buffet at Norway Askerhaus and took a liking to all the different cold herring I can eat. The hot food like meatballs and roasted chicken is as something that rivals Wal Mart quality.

Belgian food is better than French? What? lol

wow... you trying to start a war with the French...

I’m not saying french food is bad but its not head and shoulders above everything else like the French would have you believe. It varies in quality a lot and you get your fair share of tourist dives in France, including DLP!

I’ve found the food better in belgium in general and I’d really recommend the country to those that haven’t been. It’s probably because its not very touristy that the food is better

Food from DLP (worst food at any Disney Resort) and Paris should never be compared. Can vouch, I've been to all 12 parks and DLP is the barometer for quality of food in France, then I can see why you'd think the way you do. Paris and Tokyo are likely 1/2 on any given day for best food cities in the world.

Have I told you lately that I 👍 you?
Other than the US import ban on it, of course. 😉
Import ban? Couldn’t they prep with materials sourced in the US? Our St Andrews Society Ball has a whole presentation bringing out the haggis every year (bagpipers leading a procession, an older member reciting Robert Burns’ ‘Address to a Haggis,’ and the whole nine yards), hope we aren’t doing anything illegal 😜

In my understanding, the only way it's sold in the US is without sheep lungs. Otherwise, it's the same as in Scotland. If you make it yourself, I'm not sure there's a law against that? Only against importing it, and I believe selling it.

I see, so it would be a little tougher to make traditional haggis in the US. My understanding is the ones for our events are homemade, but I have no idea whether they include the lungs or modify the ingredients to some degree.

I wonder if Rose and Crown could do a lung-free haggis? Wouldn’t be authentic, but after all they have a meat-substitute shepherds pie, so it would seem they are comfortable taking a liberty here and there.

Either way, as long as the Scotch is real, that’s the important part 😉

Technically shepherds pie should be made with lamb, for obvious reasons. If made with beef it’s cottage pie. But I’m sure that 95% of people in the U.K. make shepherds pie with minced beef!

Apparently trade discussions between the US and UK have lifted British beef bans, but not lamb.

Wait. They don't mix the drinks at the bar inside the Mexico pavilion???!!!???
They 'mix' ice into the pre batched margaritas that they keep under the counter! The only real bartending they do is put together tequila flights. I understand a few years ago they did but not anymore. The only places to get a hand made drink in world showcase are the regal eagle bar, and spice road table. Technically I count space 220 as a country as well but that is run by patina group and has much more freedom in mixing cocktails.

Wow. How ridiculous!

I had the famed avocado margarita on my last trip. I don't think having it freshly made would have fixed it. 😂 😂 😂

Can you at least get a G&T at the Rose and Crown?

I agree DLP food is definitely worse than Paris itself. I haven’t eaten at high end places so can’t comment on that but in general I’ve found elsewhere in france to be better than Paris where a lot of the places I ate at were very touristy places run by immigrants cooking erzatz french food (Beef bourgainon and creme caramel) Its not bad per se but not as good as it thinks it is.

Its not just a French thing - most of europe is the same, the tourist hubs often have far worse food than the less visited places - I’ve found Amsterdam , Venice, Rome and barcelona to be appalling, but less visited places like genoa, and Tallin to be great

I agree with you on Japan though. I think it has better french food than France! Other places that I found were great were Hong Kong, Macau and Dubai

You'll generally have amazing food in Paris, as long as you don't eat on the Champs, the square in Montmartre near Sacre Couer, anywhere right by Les Halles or anything in the Latin quarter. So many incredible places to be had in Marais or Saint Germain ( both are touristy but locals live there everyday and demand greatness ).

Most of Italy is so overrated, you have to get out to the smaller cities like Genoa, agreed.. or Param, Novara, Brecia etc..

But back to Disney.... DLP food is embarrassing and the company should be embarrassed. It makes the food at Shanghai Disney look good and trust me.. it isnt.

Better food in Paris are the Turkish, North African , Chinatown and Little India places.

You know what's funny?
I have never been to the UK so I have no idea what I'm talking about when it comes to their food.
There is good food in the UK. It’s just all imported from other countries..rather than their own cuisine. Otherwise they would be eating blood pudding each day. 😂
