Changes at WDW due to alligator attack (dedicated thread)

Why...? and where will the gators be moved too? Really hoping this is just a small refurb to the ride and the gators will be back soon.

I don't know, but they removed the fake alligators and those are still gone, and if those are gone permanently, why would they keep the real ones?

Again, I don't KNOW if they are totally gone or if it's just a tank refurb. I'm just taking a guess.

Which fake alligators are still gone?

It's probably been discussed, but the alligators can still be found near the water along the train route. If any fake ones were to be removed, you'd think those would have been first to go. I did notice the Living With The Land tank refurb a couple of weeks ago as well.

Is there a potential beach erosion risk with placing the rip rap so close to the shoreline? I imagine that boat wakes continually coming on shore will scoop out the sand from underneath the rocks. It's a big reason why here in NJ we don't build massive seawalls against the ocean anymore (granted Seven Seas Lagoon is not tidal).

Saw this on Living with the Land today.
My money is on the alligators being taken out all together, though I believe this (in addition to some of the ther changes) would be going overboard.
I did the Behind the Seeds Tour a few weeks ago. They said the alligator are on loan from various places. (My guess is GatorLand) They were looking too big when we walked by and the guide said they would probably be shipped out soon. This looks like they might be changing the tank for another animal.

Fences and rock shoreline look great.

Does anyone know if Disney added a sign to the entry gate to the Poly bungalows and individual signs to each unit back deck? I understand from reading other posts that one of the problems was guests staying in the bungalows feeding the wildlife that cruised by. And if they haven't already, ban/discourage fishing from those decks.

What, like: "Quit feeding the alligators, you stupid ****s?" Gawd, I hope so!

The new layout looks great. I'd fully expected an intrusive barrier that spoilt the feel of the hotel, but that blends in really well.

Same. I was looking at the pictures from today and it's almost like it's been there all along.

Has there been any news on if the beaches will open up after the fences are up? Last I heard they were only open for a few hours a day?

Policy since the fences went up is about ah hour after sunrise until an hour before dusk. At Beach Club last week, simple signs stood in front of each area. No barrier or CM's in sight, so of course we saw some guests who conveniently ignored them. Agree the fence looks like it's always been there, didn't even notice them much of the time.

Disney did a great job with this. It looks great and thankfully is not an eyesore. I think this is the best Disney could do.

Don't worry though. It's just a matter of time until some dopey tourist tries to climb out on the rocks and snap a selfie or tries to feed the wildlife.

The fake alligators/crocs (like Louis etc) are back. As is the one in the Electrical Water Pageant.

I'm impressed and I was skeptical.

The new fencing is taking on a look more of a Wharf than a Beach and could be a way for Disney to move forward when describing these areas at their resorts. Re-naming Wharf instead of identifying as a Beach which brings different expectations to many tourists visiting beaches in Florida.

So it's like a real life Marine Life Institute, where animals who are in quarintine are sent to another place to be displayed, except the animals in question aren't sick.
