Based on the thread in the General Discussion forum, what are some famous people you or someone you know have met? We all have our brush with fame, what about you?

I can think of a couple of people I have 'indirectly' come into contact with:

- Norman Schwarzkopf
- Colin Powell
- George W. Bush
- Donald Trump
- Pope Benedict
- Corbin Bleu
- Emeril
- Hulk Hogan
- Harrison Ford

My barber's cousin's next door neighbor goes to church with someone who's brother's girlfriend went to school with Kevin Bacon.

(Notice the seven degrees to Kevin Bacon? )

1. My Aunt was a member of the 80's group Expose for a short time while one of the members was pregnant, so I got to meet them.
2. I interned for the Dallas Morning News during the 1992 Republican National Convention and came in contact with or saw a bunch of people....David Brinkley, Larry King, Penn and Teller, President and Barbara Bush, Wynona Judd...I know there were more but I'd have to think about it...its been awhile.
2. I met Patrick Swayze in New Orleans
3. I saw George W. Bush when he was still governor of TX at a restaurant in Austin.
4. I was on a cruise once with John Schneider (Bo from the Dukes of Hazzard tv series). Funny story behind this....I had a mad crush on him while I was a kid....his poster was the first poster of a guy I ever put up on my wall in my room.
In 2000 I was in the Atlanta airport waiting to board our plane to Amsterdam and I see this guy walk by who I recognized right away as John Schneider. Ended up he was on our plane, just about 6 rows in front of us. I waited HOURS for him to get up to go the bathroom so I could ask him for his autograph. But he was not getting up....so I eventually went to the bathroom. When I made it back to me seat, my husband was laughing really hard. He said that John had gotten up right after me, and was waiting to go the the bathroom while I was in there....but then the one on the other side opened up, so he went to that one....seconds before I came out. Anyway, on his way back I stopped him and asked for his autograph. We got to talking, and it ended up he and his wife were going to be on the same Baltic cruise as us.
It was a 2 week cruise, and we saw him alot. One day when my DH and I were in the hot tub, he said to me here comes John with his shirt off....I thought he was joking, but sure enough I look up and here he comes...and he gets in the hot tub with us. OMG. I never told him about the crush I had on him when I was a kid....I did not want to make him feel old! But on the last day of the cruise I hunted him down and got a picture with him.

1. President Jimmy Carter - I was covering his arrival for a vacation on St. Simons Island for a local radio station

2. Harry Chapin - Met him at a conference where I was on a committee booking acts to play at UGA the next year. He was playing in Atlanta a few months later - when I went back stage he remembered my name and where I was from.

3. Janis Ian - She cussed me out when I was bartending at the Holiday Inn in Athens, GA, because there was nothing to do in that "God forsaken little hick town."

4. Joan and Melissa Rivers - I was the pre-show entertainment for a dinner theatre in Glendale, CA where Joan brought Melissa and some friends for Melissa's sweet 16 party (this was a long time ago!). When I finished my set, she invited me to their table for a drink. I saw her a year later in Reno, NV where we were both performing for Gay Rodeo events and she remembered my name and where she saw me sing.

5. Marlee Matlin in the elevator at the Boardwalk. I helped her convince her husband to let her get a chalk portrait of their daughter done by the artist in the lobby.

6. Bob Kerry, right after he was governor of Nebraska. I was in the Children's Theatre Christmas play and he came backstage afterwards to shake everyone's hand.

7. Folk singer Nanci Griffith. She and I were on the same program for a political fundraiser in Austin. She complimented my songwriting.

8. Tennessee Williams. He was eating brunch in a restaurant in New Orleans where I sang on the weekends. I did one of my original songs and he asked who wrote the song. When I said I did, he said I was a very good songwriter. I told him he was a very good playwright. He laughed and bought me a drink.

9. For a while I saw an oncologist who was Tom Cruise's cousin. His wife (the oncologist, not Tom Cruise) hired me to do a drawing of her and her daughter.)

10. Kathy Najimy when we were both backstage before performing at the Gay march on Washington in 1993.

11. And that well known Hollywood celebrity Victoria Throckmorton, who always greets Vern and me by name and rushes over to see us every time we are at the Studios.

I've come across a few well known, or high profile people in the line of my work, but as that line of work is law enforcement, I think I should be a bit discreet about it!

Oh, I forgot one....David Copperfield. I was one of the audience members chosen for his grand finale disappearing trick. After we "reappeared" we were taken to a greenroom and then he came in to meet us and he gave us each an autographed picture of himself. One of the men told him he had twin daughters and asked if he could have another picture so he could give them each one....and David said no! Even though he was holding a stack of them!

Well, in school, one of my best friends was Bonnie Tyler's niece (Bonnie Tyler was her Mum's sister and they were all really close). I never met BT, but I have passed her in our local airport, and also in Marks and Spencer!

Also, I am from the same town as Kathryn Jenkins (is she famous in America?) and I used to play badminton with her mother, and her mother gave my mother a mammogram (although this was before Kathryn was famous).

a few weeks ago johnny depp was in my hometown filming a movie
Had this pic as an avatar for a bit

(that's him talking to my sister...he was really friendly, but
looked really old and smelled awful of alcohol!)
I really don't get excited over celebrities, but it was pretty cool to watch
them filming the movie.
The entire region went CRAZY while film crews were here.
It was insane.

I'm too lazy at the moment to list the rest.

Let's see, last April at AKL, I met:

Ashley Tisdale (my daughter and I rode the elevator with her)
Brenda Song
Dylan Sprouse
Cole Sprouse
Emily Osment
Corbin Bleu

Met Kyle Massey at WWOS

(All related to Disney Channel Games)

My wife and I had Steve Martin take our picture on our honeymoon while in Central Park. You could tell he wasn't used to anyone asking him to take a picture of them! We asked him, before we even realized it was him. He made a little joke about stealing our camera.

Celebrity people I have met are:

William Shatner and Carson Kressley. They both show horses on the same horse show circuit I show with.

I also got to shake hands with Dog the Bounty Hunter.

I forgot that when I lived in L.A. my friend was a dresser for the TV show 3's Company. He invited me to the season wrap up party at John Ritter's house. I got to speak with John Ritter for a while, shook hands with Don Knotts and Joyce DeWitt, and talked to Audra Lindley for about 45 minutes.

When I was in middle school I met Joey Lawrence in Kansas City at an autograph session at a mall. Woah!

My Sr. year of HS, Neil Patrick Harris was filming a movie (My Antonia) in the town I grew up in in Nebraska. My friend & I basically stalked him and finally met him at a Subway:

When I was on CP I met Bruce & Demi. Also met Diane Keaton while she was filming "Marvin's Room" in MK (unfortunately didn't get to meet Leo :()...she was actually slightly rude.
Since being in NYC I've met Jon Stewart & Penelope Cruz. And shared an elevator in my office w/ Chelsea Clinton (she used to work in my building). Saw the "S e x and the City" girls when they filmed a scene from the movie outside my office, but didn't get to meet them.

These are the only two that I can think of that I have seen
Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick (at TLM on B'way)
Some NBA player (at Newark Airport)

My mom saw Barbara Walters in NYC.

And my brother and sister (they're twins) went to elementary school with Piper Perabo (Jersey from Coyote Ugly and the oldest sister in Cheaper by the Dozen.)
