Celebrating 18 Years of Life, Love, and Laughter:Our 3rd Trip to WDW begins Aug. 9th!

Hello everyone!

I am attempting for the first time, to do a live Trip Report. Since we are now only ten days out from the start of our vacation :sohappy::sohappy:, I decided to go ahead and do a little pre-TR. So let's start with our cast of players, shall we?
~DH, the love of my life, who became a dedicated WDW fan after our first experience with the World and is as excited as his children to be returning.
~Myself, who can't think of a better way to end our summer vacation than by walking down Main Street USA.
~DD, 12, who can't wait to visit Pixie Hallow (*inwardly groans*) and get an even better score at Toy Story Mania on this trip.
~DS, 7, who has been patiently marking off his countdown calendar, and talking nonstop about Toy Story Mania, the Lego store at Downtown Disney, and meeting Pluto and Minnie. I should also add that he is high-functioning autistic, so much of our planning involves accomodating his particular special needs. He has an awesome big sister who is a wonderful help to her parents in that regard. :)

So why the loooong title? Well, all of the things we celebrate in our family actually happen during the kids' school year. We made the decision to move our trip from November back to August, so the kids wouldn't miss any extra school days (with a child in middle school, it's no longer easy to pull them out). We are only about two weeks shy of our 18th wedding anniversary, so what a better gift to give one another than a Disney vacation? And thanks to Pam from Kingdom Konsultants and a well-timed discount, we were able get a room at the Contemporary with a Magic Kingdom view! :sohappy::sohappy:

So that's it! 18 years of marriage and two wonderful children later, we are embarking on our third adventure to Florida! I'll lay out our itinerary and dining plans in my next post. Thanks for reading!

Love the trip report so far!!! The last time we got to the World was August of 2006 and my friend was going into my house to take care of my 16 year old cat. Every day she would unlock the door and pray that Bookie would be alive. Thank God he was and he remained with us until 2008 so don't worry, the cat will be fine! Has the fish survived?

Nope - went to fishy heaven! And the cat is quickly recovering her spirits, escaping outside twice today . I was told by our vet's office that the place we're boarding her is the Taj Mahal of boarding facilities, so she's likely to be even more spoiled by the time we get back.

And thanks for your kind words. Actually did some last minute tweaking and dropped our ressie at Tony's on Thursday the 13th. We had one extra TS ressie than we paid for anyway, so at least we won't be paying for one OOP now. So now I do lots of last minute cleaning, laundry, and running around my house going nutso till Friday night. :D I like the idea of coming home to a decently clean house.

Congrats, Happy Anniversary, and Have FUN!!!

We're fellow Midwesterners who won't be leaving until Sept. 26, so in the meantime we'll be attempting to live vicariously through your live trip report!

As you can see from my sig, the purpose of our trip is to celebrate the union of two souls with the help of family and friends!

We can't wait to hear the updates!

Loving the Live TR so far! :)

Magic Kingdom! We want to see the opening ceremony (never have yet).

Love Love LOVE the "Good Morning Song" as I like to call it. I always make my travel buddies get up early to see it at least once. The most magical way to start the day at the MK! :D

We have a lunch at Sci-Fi - must try the yummy milkshakes we have heard so much about. :slurp:.

I hope you guys like the Sci Fi, it's one of my favorites. The milkshakes are awesome.

When you see the cartoon [The optimistic Futurist I believe it's called.] with the Alien, Scientist and Secretary drinking the martini typing with one hand think of me, Haha. She's my favorite. :)

1 Day to Go!

Well, folks, we've finally reached that moment where, in less than 24 hours, we will be hitting the road!! :sohappy::sohappy: Anticipation has been building to a fever pitch around here...our countdown calendar is almost complete....and today we finish packing and loading up the van. I forced myself out of bed earlier than usual this a.m. in hopes of tiring myself out enough for an early bedtime. If only those pesky kids will cooperate :animwink:.....

So, on my agenda today:

Finish some last minute cleaning - we got a good portion of it done, so that's a relief!
Getting the timers set up on the lights and canceling the paper.
Going thru every bag and re-checking what's been packed, making sure we don't forget anything....especially my bag filled with our Disney paperwork and park touring stuff.
Running to the credit union and then filling up the van with gas.
DH's vacation officially starts at noon, so by mid-afternoon we will deliver the kitty to her 'cat condo' for her vacation (no, I didn't make that up, that's what the boarding place said when we made her ressie ), then pack the van as full as we possibly can before supper, which will be a pizza delivery. After supper will involve trying to relax all of us as much as possible before heading off to bed early. The alarm will be set for 2:30 a.m. :dazzle:
I probably won't be officially LIVE until Sunday evening, so to be honest I don't know how many pics I will be taking enroute. We will be journaling the whole way and doing our countdown of Cracker Barrel signs along the way...I think last time it was around 34 billboards before we got to Orlando. Oh, and doing a little dance every time we enter another state that brings us closer to 'home'. :sohappy::sohappy:
Talk to everyone very, very soon! :D

I can just feel your excitement!! :sohappy::sohappy::sohappy: It looks like you've got plenty to keep you busy to help this last day fly by. I can't wait to read your live trip report. And I think it's hilarious that you count down the Cracker Barrels.

Heehee...we know we're officially in the South when there's a Cracker Barrel at every single exit. Oh, and the tendency of southerners to use every single inch of their entrance ramp before they merge into traffic. Just something we've noticed. :lookaroun
