Some of you really need to re-evaluate your Disney priorities. To hear yourselves talk, you would think you HATE everything to do with Disney. I agree with Dana--if you bash it so much, why go there or even come here? :hammer:
The thing is none of us hate Disney. We are upset about the decline in quality and homogenization the park's have been going through. If we hated disney why would we care and why would we be here.

Exactly. And the critics don't offer a better napkin plan which is weak. Let's have those great napkin ideas critics.

One does not require the other.

Ever go to a crappy movie. You know it's garbage. You may have even walked out on it. Can you make a better one ?

Ever have horrible food? Did the chef come out of the kitchen and say "well, if you can't make better, then shut your mouth and eat what I give you"

I am not a graphical designer. (I have done some technical drawing and drafting, but not designing). I don't claim to have a better creative idea for the napkins. What I do claim, is that while they are just napkins, and they are not going to ruin my experence at WDW, they do look horrible to me. Slap-dash, garish, and not appealing at all.

Yes, but a vast majority ascribe to the theory of "a slap is a hug that stings" when complaining.

To me, napkins are only ... well, napkins ... but they do represent a WalMarting/homogenizing of the WDW experience when you get that whole Disney Parks branding. People don't visit Disney Parks ... they visit DL ... or the MK ... or DAK ... or EPCOT etc ...

It's largely all been marketing blather over real substance in Orlando of late ... the Milennium was the last 'celebration' that made sense and had substance behind it ... since then we 've had what? 100 Years of Walt ... Magical Gatherings ... Happiest Celebration ... Year of a Million Dreams Times Two ... all the while being told that WDW was Where Magic Lives ... or was that Where Dreams Come True (I recall seeing the two lines of merchandise side by side at an Epcot shop last year and remarking to a friend about the conflicting messages being sent.) ... after a while, it all just ran together.

In the meantime, WDW ignored its milestone 30th and 35th anniversaries as well as EPCOT's 25th (which should have been huge) and the still significant DAK's 10th ... not to mention Mickey's 75th and 80th B-Days.

Frankly, I'd rather see marketing get its budgets slashed by 75% and toss that money into the parks.

People are going to either come to WDW or not come ... the notion that you can get one free one-day, one park ticket on your B-Day or get help in decorating your resort room (beyond the typical towel animals in lieu of clean rooms) or birthday cruises to see fireworks (gee, I must have fantasized about actually doing this 12 years ago!) is somehow going to get people to spend $2,000-??? on magical WDW vacations is pretty crazy.

You know, I kinda have to agree on the against "Disney Parks" thing. While some might not see the whole DL/WDW thing as something special, to some in there it is. When you work at DL, you get the honor of saying you worked in the park Walt walked around in for 11 years. When you work at WDW, you get to say you worked in the place where Fantasy really becomes Reality because your immersed in it. So I mean, it is nice to have them seperate even for guests sake. So when you go home, you don't go "I visited the Disney theme parks..." you go "I visited Walt Disney World" or "I just visited Disneyland".

While I can't make too many comments, I can say that I wish more thought would've gone into separate logos. I kinda like the Multiple logo design someone came up with, with the balloons. It's nice. And stays with the theme and the fact you're in WDW.

I mean this is all my opinion (in fact, I got torn a new one for my comments on AIE back when we heard it's release) but, as someone, I really hate the whole Disney Parks notion. And as a guest, I feel if I'm coming to the Park, I want to know I'm in WDW or DL. Or even DLP!

I see exactly where you're coming from, and I'm not really a fan of the "DisneyParks" homogenization, but it's not like they've made it impossible to find resort-specific merchandise at each location. Last year I visited both WDW and DLR and saw merchandise that was specific to each resort -- not just the same merchandise that said "Walt Disney World" or "Disneyland," but separate designs as well.

The "DisneyParks" logo seems to be making its way mostly into things like plates, napkins, and other things that are given complimentary to the guest, and, to the normal guest, don't really make a difference.

Just my opinion.
