They can put any character on there as long as Stitch stays far away!!! We've already seen WAY too much of him/it for a lifetime!

The DLP castle has been transformed much more than our American ones; since their castle hasn't been around as long, local Parisians don't complain as much when it is redecorated.

On one occasion, the hat on the top tower caused structural damage.

Man. Kaa looks a whole helluva lot better than his concept photos. Here is hoping that every character looks as great!!!

Oooo...Nice! Should be pretty cool if they pull it off right. You know what's going to happen? It's going to become a Tree of Life thing where you'll try to count and ID the most characters on the castle. :animwink:

I think each castle decoration Disney has done has served a purpose. The '25th' Castle was meant to commemorate WDW's 25th anniversary in a fun Birthday like way (not too often Disney calls something a birthday). Paris' 5th Anniversary castle was made as a festival and they pulled that off great. Disneyland's castle is supposed to get a royal treatment and that's exactly what they are getting (gold crowns, purple-fabric-banner-type things, etc.)

Cinderella Castle on the other hand is getting ready for an elegant ball and I think Disney is doing it perfectly. I hope the turret decorations are permanent. The only think that could scare me is the Stained Glass in front but I have trust that Disney will pull it off elegantly.

Out of all the decorations though, my favorite is when Stitch TPed the castle (although I think the new decorations will beat that).

Some pics from today: (I do not want to see these pictures appearing on another Disney site....that has been an issue for me lately.

I can appreciate that concept. I was finding sites all over the world linking directly to my web site (site not actually working yet, just serving photos) and clobbering the bandwidth usage on the site. I spent nearly 3 hours the other day trying to get it blocked so only sites that I posted on, or where the owner had request use could to so. Now I just need to start adding a watermark for people who just steal a copy of the photo and post it around.

Great Pics by the way. I was over there for a few hours today but didn't have the camera with me.

I think it looks nice now but I hope that they don't cover the whole thing with characters and make it look tacky in any way...

I'm getting a very brief 3 day trip to the world March 11-13th and have enjoyed seeing these new updates to the castle! It really makes my upcoming visit all the more exciting!

Speck...thanks for sharing these wonderful visual updates! The photos are incredible and beautiful! How did you manage to get such great shots of the characters, and where were you standing, etc? I have a nice but functional Sony Cybershot digital camera and plan on taking beaucoup photos while I'm down there and hopefully some nice ones of the castle and the characters. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :)

An artist hand sculpted each of those characters. I visited her workspace before, and her maquettes are absolutely amazing! Each one will be highly articulated, as they have to go through an approval stage before they are fabricated. In an issue of Eyes and Ears they showed a photo of her sculpting the Peter Pan statue, and it looked to be the size of two people. It won't seem that large due to the castle's height and perspective and such, but they all really look good. If you want a closer look at her work, she also sculpted the angered Donald Duck entangled in horns in the gift shop near the exit of PhilharMagic. Disney's sculptors are amazing! They also do they window displays on Main Street.
