Here is the official schedule for the Kiss Goodnight (times will change as the park hours change):

M, T, W, T, S : 11pm, 12am, 12:30am, 1am (based on closing time)
Sun, Fri: 12am

The Kiss is controlled by the Parade Manager and if he/she is having delays getting the last parade to bed the times will change, or the Kiss will not happen.

Here it is....

This may be just after Wishes. IDK

Hey! That's my video! :D
That was shot early December '05. As you can see, my camera has trouble with low-light situations. I also stayed for the Kiss Goodnight this past June, but used the time to take stills of the various color schemes the castle goes through in the final 30 seconds.

As for when the Kiss Goodnight is scheduled to occur, Steve Soares posts that info weekly as part of his WDW Entertainment page:
http://pages.prodigy.net/stevesoares/
It's listed way down at the very bottom of the MK page. (Note that it has the "NP" notation next to it, which means it's not a published time. It's not really surprising how few CMs know about it)

WOW!!! Thanks for the great video and thanks for the link. I am about to pull it up to see if they will be doing this while we are there next week.

I think that it is surprising too that the cast members don't know about this. I wouldn't know about it either if it weren't for you so thanks again!!:)

Um, no.

My apologies, but you are incorrect.

The parade manager has absolutely nothing to do with the Kiss Goodnight show. Kiss Goodnight runs on an automated system. The programming logic will play the digicart track, and route timecode to the Castle Lighting Computer.

Most of the time, if there is a second parade, the first Kiss Goodnight sometimes does not occur. Why? Because the parade takes precedence over the park audio until it ends...so KGN is running, but in the background, and not getting routed out.

But has nothing to do with the parade manager or any staff on that team.

Oh, and you'll know that the Kiss Goodnight is about to play because the background music in the Hub area will get noticeably louder for a split second before turning off completely. (All of this I assume is the computer getting the various systems ready for the show by setting volume levels) There's silence for a moment, and then the KGN plays.

This all sounds great to you people, but I run a restaurant and here is what I think. This is Mickey's way of saying..."Get the hell out of here. We closed an hour ago, we need to clean up. Aren't you people tired yet. Go Home! Why are you still here?"
Sorry to say it, but If i were a CM that cleans up the Hub or streets, I would be cringing at this post that has all these people talking about how the park closes at 9, but we are going to stay till 10, to hear Mickey kick us out.

Sorry, but you are incorrect. I close the park (grave shift security) and we call the Parade Manager to see if the kiss will happen as scheduled or not so we can tell any guests that are waiting at the Hub for it.

:ROFLOL: true.... I guess that's why so many people don't know about it because we get on out of the park and then stand and wait on the bus for ever. I think I'll check it out this once just to see anyway.:)

The Kiss is rather subtle, and most suited for us Disney zealots. I wouldn't suggest staying with all family members as you will probably be asked "you made us wait an hour for THAT?" or "are you nuts".

It is something nice that you should try to experience at least once. Usually best on an early park close with no special events happening.

All the details have been provided as to where and when. I do check Steve Soars site (great for a lot of event time info), but generally plan on an hour after park close.

:brick: I'm not going to get into a battle here. I work in Entertainment and program the Kiss Goodnights...I'm PRETTY sure I know how it works!

The parade manager has NO control over the Kisses. You may just be instructed to call him to see if the parade has made its way out of the park or not...but s/he has NO control over the Kisses. There is NOT someone pressing a button, it is an automated, scheduled system.

Well, technically Main Street Stays open 1 hour past offical park closing. Sincle the Hub is part of Main Street (audio and theaming wise). It is open as well. If Disney wanted everyone out exactly at park closing, Main street would close at the same time, and there would be no kiss goodnight.

We always make sure we see the "Kiss Goodnight" at the Magic Kingdom any night we are there. We always stay as late as we can in the parks, so we shop on Main Street after closing. It is just the most perfect way to end a magical day at Disney World. With the music playing "When You Wish Upon A Star", and the great narration thanking us for spending the day at the Magic Kingdom, it sends you home with the desire to come back VERY SOON. It is like the castle is saying goodbye and saying "I'll be waiting right here until you get back".

As far as I know it happens every night. At least it has been any time we've been there, both peak times and off-season.

I have been going to Disney for almost 20 years and have been been a pretty dedicated follower as well. I have never heard of this before today. This is really cool. Thanks for sharing this.

Right on with that. I had seen the video and could hardly wait to see it in person. I got goosebumps watching it and DW thought it was nice, but the in-laws could not have cared less. Watching the video STILL gets to me! 28 days till I get them in person!
