Castaway Cay Cabanas

Sunday morning I reached the 90 days till my cruise on the Disney Magic. Having been on one other Disney Cruise I was able to book things that evening. I got up shortly after midnight to do my on line check in and book a cabana at Castaway Cay. The first thing I did was book the cabana and with the cost of these cabanas being near $500 for the day, I did not think I would have a problem getting one. Guess what; I got the reservation for very last one on the family beach. There was still some on the adult beach, but I have the two grandkids with me. If I have waited any longer, I am sure that I would not have gotten one.

Cannot believe that these went so fast. So I also book my Palo reservation.

Congrats!!

They are very popular! They are super nice too. I toured one last time and was super impressed.

I am leaning towards one next time. My Dad loves going snorkeling, and all the beachy things we do there, but with all the skin cancer he's had, he just can't stay out in the sun all day. The cabanas would be perfect.

Remember those repeat cruises (Castaway members) who are platinum level get to book everything much sooner than gold or silver level members. then there are also those concierge guests, they really love those cabanas.

Figment1986 is right.

Add to that all the people who are in the 'I'm only going to do this once, so I'm going to go First Class on everything now, because this is it for us.' category and you have Cabanas that fill up fast!

Personally, I can't imagine only going once, but I ran most of the Castaway Cay 5K with a lady who was staying on the concierge level and she said that this was/ would be their one and only Disney Cruise. Their kids were all teenagers and they had been to Disney World - ONCE. They stayed at AKL back when it was brand new and went concierge that time too because they knew it would be their ONLY trip to WDW. They loved their experience at WDW, but never planned (then or now) to return.   It's beyond me, but there are millions of people like them I'm sure! But if I was only going once, I would get a Cabana too!

I guess that what surprized me was all that I have read on line is who would pay $500.00 for a one day rental. I am sure that someone at Disney Cruise Lines most be trying to find a place to for building a few more Cabanas on the Family Beach.

Just got back and the Cabanas on the Family Beach where the hit of the trip. We had three couples (one with two kids) and split the cost at about $200 each. We always rent floats, bikes and snokel gear, so that off set about half of the cost becuase they where included in the cost of the cabanas.

The Cabanas where wonderful and the staff was there always looking after what we needed. We eat lunch in the cabana and that was really nice. It did rain that afternoon for about 30 minutes and we sat and had drinks in the cabana. Must other guest headed for the ship, so the island was really empty for the last two hours.

Awesome. I really want to do this next time. I've toured them, but never actually stayed in one. :)

I was on at midnight, 90 days out, ready to book but we were not as lucky as you  We did get the Palo reservations we wanted though :D I keep checking back but I figure no ones gonna give up those cabanas once they got 'em. That's ok, we're gonna have a great time and we'll spend our $500 some other way

When we got to Castaway Cay, three of the cabanas where not being used. I had checked right before the curise and all where listed as rented. Do not give up and maybe you can get one.

After going to Castaway Cay once I would definitely pay the $500 the next time for the cabana! It gets really hot on that island and it would be nice to have a place to relax and cool off for a bit (without walking all the way back to the ship and relaxing there).
