HA!!!! When I had my doubts that this movie would ever be made...it was because it's the US fighting a terrorist group...makes sense that they change it!!!

I like the changes I've heard so far...and it definitely sounds like Destro...but it won't be a G.I. Joe (or should we call it G.I.J.O.E.) film without Cobra Commander.
Yea the changes make sense just like they did for transformers. But you are right, no cobra commander=no gi joe, they have to put him in. How could you leavew out such a major character? I would bet when all is said and done he makes it into the film.

NICE!!!!!!!!

Thanks for sharing!!!

I'm actually interested in not only seeing just how much of the story they put into the movie from the Macross Saga. Also I'm hoping to see the Max and Miriya storyline kept in there since that was a huge turning point in the fight with the Zentraedi.

I just read an article in Wizard and they said that while there will be Cobra Commander, he's going to be more of a shadowy leader like the Emperor in the original Star Wars trilogy. More being mentioned and making brief appearances where you don't see him so much as feel his menace or something like that.

They had a bunch of articles for other movies we've been talking about in here as well. They brought up a bunch of Transformers they wanted to see in the new movie to the folks working on Transformers 2 and got their responses for it. They mentioned that with a Teen Titans movie in the works, people they would like to see cast in the different roles. It's actually a really good issue this month.

The Speed Racer trailer has been released.

Umm...after watching it...I think this is one movie I will definitely pass on.

It screams "Spy Kids meets the Matrix"

The only way I'll be seeing this in a theater is if it goes to Imax 3D because it does look like it would be fun in 3D

Well what did you expect? The series had totally ridiculous races through volcanoes and arctic environments. The Mach 5 had an insane array of gadgets including the spring jacks and twin buzzsaws that came out of the front to cut trees out of the way. If you look at it as what it is, a live action version of the cartoon series, they seem to have most if not all of the elements in place. I know I'm going to have to take my son to it either way, but I think it'll be a pretty fun movie. Of course, I actually liked watching the Spy Kids movies with my kids, so that helps too.

Edit: I have to say, though, I love the look of Snake Oiler's car in the trailer. Very nice transfer to live action.

I wouldn't want it to be a realistic movie. I liked the one track I did see...but it looks too cartoony...making me ask the question...why didn't they just make it a cartoon to begin with? Yes, both cars came across very well. The problem I have is that, if they were going to make a live action movie...make it LOOK realistic. Sure, the crazy races need to be in there...but you can still take the cartoon look out of it with today's technology. It looks like a freakin' Disco mashed together with the Pop of the 80's and then mated with one of those Tyco slot car tracks.

Guess who has replaced David Murray as Destro?

None other than Christopher Eccleston of Doctor Who and Heroes!

Others in the movie include:
Dennis Quaid (General Hawk)
Channing Tatum (Duke)
Sienna Miller (Baroness)
Ray Park (Snake Eyes)
Rachel Nichols (Scarlett)
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Heavy Duty)
Said Taghmaoui (Breaker)
Marlon Wayans (Ripcord)
Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Arnold Vosloo (Zartan)
Byung-hun Lee (Storm Shadow)

Oh, and to keep the franchise alive...

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe will be coming to DVD next Tuesday (2/18).
This is the re-released newer series that aired on Cartoon Network in 200x.

This series followed a storyline whereas the original 1980's series did not. I prefer this series over the 1980's series because it has more of an "adult" feel to it. You get to know the relationships between all of the characters and why they are...the way they are.
The original 1980's series (which is awesome for nostalgia purposes with their great "morals" at the end of the episodes) had an original "movie" but then was just a bunch of different episodes that really didn't follow any continuous storyline.

If you haven't seen the new episodes...but liked the old one...give this a shot. You have all of your favorite characters...and settings, but you get a bit of "grown-up" thrown in. The only MAJOR change...is that Cringer/Battle Cat do not talk.

Transformers 2 has been written by Michael Bay...he needs to get it into the hands of the screenwriters now.

Also, there will be a LOT more robots...and the designs are complete.

No Dinobots. (I personally loved the Dinobots but I agree with the decision to keep them out of this story...it just doesn't "fit" because the reason for turning into other things is for disguise...and you're not really "blending" if you're a giant mechanical dinosaur.)

One word sums up my thoughts on Eccleston as Destro... FANTASTIC! :D
I like Ray Park as Snake Eyes, because that guy can move. And I like Rachel Nichols as Scarlett, at least just looking at her she seems like a good fit, I have no idea about her actings, since I'm not sure I've seen her. But I'm a little disappointed in the choice of Sienna Miller for Baroness. I dunno, I always saw her as being just a little more curvy and in her 30s. But, I'm sure when all is said and done, with the right script, this will be a really good movie.

Yeah, I'm okay with not having the Dinobots, but I want Soundwave this time. I missed having them not having him in the first movie. He really needs to be around. And if not him, then at least Shockwave. Oh, and hopefully that Jazz figure that was released after the film came out with the classic G1 paint job will come to pass and he has been rebuilt and made better than ever... and less gangsta.

Just thought of two others I'd like to possibly see in the new Transformers movie for the Autobots: Hound and Mirage.

Mirage and Wheeljack are my two favorite AutoBots.
Soundwave and Shockwave are my two favorite Decepticons

I agree with Mirage!

Carolina Kournikova has signed on to be Cover Girl in GI Joe.

I'm so glad they're having a lot of character names in the first one. I actually wouldn't have been shocked if Hawk, Duke, Flint, Snake Eyes, Destro and Cobra Commander were the only ones in the first movie. (BTW, There has been no mention of Cobra Commander!)

The only mention I found was in a magazine article where they were told that Cobra Commander, at least for the first movie, is supposed to be kind of like Emperor Palpatine in Star Wars. You hear more about him than you see him, like a shadowy menace.

ooOOOooo kinda makes sense...but wouldn't you think that type of character would be Destro?

Destro pays Cobra's bills...and that's basically why he's around.
