Some more pictures from a couple days ago from the fantastic Westcoaster website. (Check it out at
http://www.westcoaster.net as it has really well done photo updates from around SoCal theme parks, and the young guy who manages it has a great sense of wit about him and keeps it all in perspective. We are just talking about theme parks after all, not global finance or the war on terror.)
Here's a great close up shot of the massive Cadillac Range rockwork. That's Angel Stadium in the right corner background, and beyond is the hills near Villa Park not far from where a certain TP2000 lives and keeps an eye on Disneyland from the little telescope on his deck!
A lot of the exterior double-lane racing portion of the track looks to be completed, as they finish painting the rockwork on the lower levels of the Cadillac Range and around Ornament Valley.
The big show building warehouse behind Cars Land has been completed for a few months now. This is where the "dark ride" slower portion of the ride will take place and where your car is prepped for the big race, after you first board your car out in the loading area and go on an outdoor driving tour of Ornament Valley. That's Katella Avenue directly behind the show building warehouse.
And finally, a great look at
Luigi's Flying Tires ride. That's his "tire garden" queue beyond his showroom. Those aren't test vehicles, they are planters for his garden. I can only guess that the row of heavily fortified square buildings beyond are the air compressors for the flying tires table that will lift the tires off the ground. You can see the broad, flat air compressor table on the left side of the picture. I never rode the Flying Saucers at Disneyland in the 1960's (at least not that myself or anyone in my family can remember), but I can't wait to get a chance to ride Luigi's Flying Tires next summer!
All pictures compliments of Westcoaster.
