Yes, thank you sponono88! I know I've said it before and it's not a new sentiment, but I am really appreciative of your work here to keep these DCA construction threads updated. It's an invaluable resource, and very enjoyable.

I'm sure the folks outside of SoCal who haven't seen this stuff in person enjoy it too. And it goes without saying, as impressive as these pictures are, it's even more impressive to see it in person peering over the construction walls in DCA. This is a MASSIVE theme park project going on here with Cars Land and Mermaid and Paradise Garden and Buena Vista Street; pictures are so helpful but can't nearly do it justice.

Yep, next year will be very big for DCA.. Especially the first half of 2010, with so many things opening and construction kicking into high gear at the main entrance. Possibly the highest amount of construction the park will ever see!

Here's a look at construction progress for this week (12/13)

Rock sculpting

They've added a few trees to this area atop the mountain. This is likely just a test to figure out the scale and placement

The trees will be located in the same area as the waterfall (picture of model)

The framework for the rock formation is starting to come together

Cars Land construction update (1/16)

The tailfins are receiving the mesh for the rockwork process -- you can begin to see the shape of the mountains (upper right)

The Curios shop received the framework for its roof signage

A section of wall and the Pacific Wharf stage have been removed, as they prepare for the new guest access portal that will connect to Cars Land.

This rock archway will eventually become a passageway to Cars Land

What are they planning to do with the back side of the mountain? You can see the steel from the streets outside of the park and from the pier going to Californinia Screaming. This is not a movie set. It is going to look awful. I saw it in December and on the pier side it looks complete including the trees at the top. Any ideas?

The exposed steel is due to the fact that it's still heavily under construction. The side facing the pier isn't finished yet, the trees were only added temporarily to test out the sightlines and scale. It's still over a year away from opening, they will eventually get to work on the backside of the mountain

Finally the Carsland range peaking over, This is a GREAT picture, front to back we have Buena Vista Street, The Carthay, and Carsland. Reminds me of when Paradise Pier had WOC platform, Paradise Park, Silly Symphonies Swings and Little Mermaid all at once.
