The majority of the rides in the park will indeed close. I stand by that statement.

Rides that would remain open:

Ministry of Magic
Mario Kart
Monsters Dark Ride
Carousel

Rides that will close:

Starfall Racer
Curse of the Werewolf
Dragon Racer’s Rally
Fyre Drill
Hiccup’s Wing Gliders

Mine Cart Madness
Yoshi’s Adventure

Some of these lands (Mario and Dragons) will be down to one or no rides open at times.

Again speaking strictly of rides. The dragon and Harry Potter show will obviously also remain open.

I’m not saying other parks don’t have similar issues, but Epic will certainly be challenging in the summer. Obviously these new cars rides would fair similarly in the summer.
There's also the two shows which will operate

Theme and ambience within rides is the main reason most people go.

if it was just pretty areas with restaurants and characters but no rides then disneyworld would close for business within 3 months.

no one goes to disneyworld to see the tangled toilets as pretty as they are. They go to ride seven dwarfs mine ride. A fairly simple and short ride technically but with some minor thrills and amazing immersion that has most people singing hi ho as they ride through and out the mountian.
And if Fantasyland was just dark rides in boxes in a parking lot, no one would go either. It's the theming and ambience that has always set Disney apart from the run of the mill amusement parks.

Same here - I’m for any solution that keeps the riverboat.

The lower portion keeps the vibe of Frontierland - and also the riverboat going by Tiana. It also is a smaller portion of property if that’s the concern.
I didn't think about it going by Tiana's... that is a good point. Like you I'd be happy with either portion. I probably still lean towards the northern portion but I'd be happy with either.

The crazy part of this whole thing… if they Just announced a smaller ROA loop and Villains land with small upgrades or replacements for stitch, buzz, speedway and no cars, they would have had a massive positive response. And probably saved money. Increased capacity, Adding cars seems pointless in MK
They shortened the RoA in Disneyland while also plussing up the area with new scenes and making the railroad trip from New Orleans Squade to Toontown one of the prettiest in the park, ALL while adding Galaxy’s Edge behind it, keeping all the river attractions, and creating a nice walkway from Critter Country to Galaxy’s Edge, eliminating the dead end that used to be there. They had the blueprint and didn’t even consider it, I don’t understand why.

Perverse incentives in the present business model necessitate the elimination of RoA and other “free” attractions downstream (no pun intended). This is the fastest way for TDO to ensure their execs get rewarded by meeting their per capita guest spending metrics.

In short, $$$.

It's all about the merchandise. Assuming the data at the below link is true, the Cars franchise has sold $1.5 billion more in merchandise than the Toy Story Franchise in nine fewer years:

Personally, I think the Cars land looks intriguing, and I think the main ride has potential to be really fun. It's just the placement I don't like.

They just built Moana and they have the Carousel in DAK coming. Plus zootopia 3d isn’t going to be a high demand LL either.

So they don’t always think this way.
They can justify those as smaller footprints attractions that will still move merch and also larger Disney+/IP interest. So even if they’re “loss leaders” from a LL standpoint they make up for it in other goals/metrics.

On the whole, RoA is a huge amount of relative space and potential guest time spent on IP the company isn’t generating revenue from.

It’s a similar reason ToT, RnRc, and Dinosaur have all be cited as ripe for changeover.

Y'know what, I think he's telling the truth. What about his writing is making y'all think he's trolling anyways?
I don't know if this is sarcasm or not. But in case it's serious, "Disney Adult" is NOT a positive thing to call someone. It's an insult. This person is making fun of the people who are upset about the removal of the RoA/TSI/Riverboat, along with the idea that they believe they could convince Disney leadership to change their mind.

The image that was posted with the "Disney Adults" stuff was definitely a troll making fun of people. I don't know of anyone who unironically refers to themselves as a Disney Adult in a positive way, and I can smell the sarcasm dripping off of it.

I would be over the moon if they actually do rethink this and save the RoA/TSI/boat, but I genuinely don't think there's any hope of it. Pro at one point also claimed that there was hope that the Splash/Tiana overhaul would be canceled (or at least that one coast might be spared), but it didn't ultimately happen. Steve (wdwmagic, the admin here) also said the other day that there's no chance of reversing course at this point.

What are all of these other sources reporting this?

You mean
I keep seeing some comments about how there may be a change of mind, and it wont go forward on TSI and RoA. Just to reiterate, this project is full steam ahead, and nobody is reconsidering.
That was a while ago, and may be the result of confusion: Cars is still coming, but relocated, and the water has to be reworked.
