Or…maybe not? Did they just not announce last week attendance has been (and is projected to continue being) soft? Seems like a bad time to tick off your loyal fans…
Well, telling the world that TSI and RoA are going away is like Viagra for attendance figures...

Unpopular take here I'm sure, but I'm not mourning the loss of TSI or ROA. Filling the entire river in seems a bit much - keeping a stretch by Haunted Mansion would have allowed the Belle to at least stay docked, perhaps converting it to a shop/snack spot, but I honestly won't miss it that much. TSI is a cool attraction once you're there, but I can't stand the rafts - it's like being in a hot stretch room. Also the mountain-scape renderings are beautiful - hopefully the end product looks close to this.

My issue is the Cars IP injection, it's plain lazy. At least it's not an entire Land - hopefully we can eventually get another attraction or two that's not Cars in the new Frontierland space. I mean, Lambert the Sheepish Lion was right there...

Just gonna leave this here too- I doubt there's any hope in changing their minds, but hey, might as well get any potential solutions to the problem visible!

When I first heard the announcement, I assumed this was the intent and while Cars in Frontierland is a hard pill to swallow, I was going to accept it since it was an expansion that could be separated into its own area and still retained ROA. But jamming this between Mansion and Big Thunder is just inexcusable.

I don't think you'd want to go with another attraction that isn't Cars at this point.

Wow I was hoping and praying this wouldn’t be the case.

I have a few thoughts…
  • Technically this is a net gain in attractions so we are not really loosing anything in that regard.
How is it a net gain? Only in terms of rides, not in terms of attractions. IMO.

Ambiance and peacefulness is an important for a busy theme park like the MK so this is a complete blow in that aspect.
Agreed 100%

This new Cars “sub-land” of Frontierland looks great, seems to have some beautiful water elements that when coupled with the cars passing by will add/replace the kinetic energy of the riverboat/TSI.

Oh great, so the land will have kinetic energy.

Unfortunately I can’t explore a landscape that’s being used for some rally ride. I can’t sit and unwind as I ride a paddle steamer along the bodies of water in the middle of a rally ride. And whilst kids can ride around it they can’t use the landscape to let off steam, or decompress. TSI is a haven for neurodivergent children in particular, as well as for neurotypical children. Not to mention parents. ☹️

Forgive me if someone on said this already, it's hard to keep up with 59 pages, but does this mean they're going to have a walkable path from Haunted Mansion now to Big Thunder? Before, of course, you had to walk all the way around the Rivers of America but the concept art looks like there's going to be open pathways? I'm just wondering how that's going to look/work with HM's queue being famously right on the waterfront.

Not exactly as drawn, but you can see on the right hand side there is a large pathway and trees that separate Cars from HM's queue.

Not really sure what you mean. All I’m saying is they seem to be getting more and more brazen ticking off their long-time/loyal customers (this being one of many other decisions). Is that smart business when the parks (for many reasons) are struggling with attendance?

You mean besides that the art shows its, you know, going to be covered with a Cars attraction?
?

You mean the fuzzy A,B,C,D image on the previous page? I can't squint hard enough to figure out what the heck is going on in that image to be honest, let alone figuring out of the labelled image of existing attractions makes jives with the fuzzy concept art😁

So I haven't read through the whole thread, but are there indications that we're losing Tom Sawyer Island?
If they build this to match the artwork, then yes Tom Sawyer Island is done for. As is the entirety of the surrounding river and riverboat. These two images are lined up very closely, and the letters are there to match the landmarks (A is the old riverboat dock, B is Pecos Bills, C is Big Thunder, D is Tiana's Bayou Adventure). The river and island and the middle are where Cars is going.

I mean ... just look at the images?
