MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

It’s not that simple…. I believe there was a plan to have coco, possibly Encanto, and Villians land - all in a space “beyond big thunder” - maybe that meant shortening the river California style - maybe not.

At some point - things got cut down.
I imagine part of the justification was, "If we don't use the TSI space now, it'll be much harder to access and use in the future when we build Villains. But if we don't use the BBTMRR space now, we can always use it in the future." The idea being 1) this is cheaper, 2) maximizes space, and 3) saves an expansion plot for later.

I agree that is short cited, but I imagine that was part of the argument.

I don’t disagree. My point is that eventually they got to this current plan. And when it comes to this current plan the Cars ride is just the thing they re trying to fit on the corpse of the ROA. It’s not the reason for the change. Villains Land and getting rid of the river are. The Cars Ride is the lemonade the imagineers are trying to make with the Lemons they got. But it probably won’t be sweet enough. In short people should temper the expectations for the Cars ride.

The concept art is funky though. Notice those cars seeming to come out of a walkway?

Yeah, the “but we have bigger plans for that space in the future!” Is such a strange excuse. For this, Monsters Inc, and DAK.

I agree, especially since it has been the same song seemingly for decades. By the time they would be ready to use that space, seemingly something else in the park would be "out of date" and could just be replaced instead.

I think it was a big tug of war between MK, DHS, and AK

I think we were very close to:
MK getting Cars, Coco, an Encanto
DHS getting Villain's
AK getting Moana and Zootopia

Not sure if I like that plan better or worse than what we are getting (assuming river and Muppets would be destroyed either way)

Assuming those are semi-accurately placed and not just artistic fluff, I would assume they're part of the main attraction and that they circle the junior attraction, passing underneath the bridge that crosses over to it from the central courtyard with the racing arch. I'm guessing the entire rear section of the artwork is just weirdly compressed because of the angle and that there's some geyser canyon or something those cars emerge from.

Uh, do people think that? I thought the consensus was that it would be on the level of Junkyard Jamboree or Rollickin' Roadsters, but covered by the structure shown.

Yeah, I thought more of a flat ride ... Maybe something like a (quicker moving)!version of the Yoshi ride but Cars themed?

I do think it will be like free driving like the Speedway is, but guess we shall see!

Heck, they might not fully know at this point lol

At least with Monster's, I can see the reasoning.

It's an absolute metric ton more work over by courtyard to convert that into something usable. Demolition alone. Ive been back there, it's so much park infrastructure, the animation building, lots of Cast stuff like the cafeteria/subway, a huge parking garage, more office buildings, etc.

And if they ever do get a chance at Marvel on the east coast, having the courtyard, which directly connects backstage into Sunset Boulevard, is essentially the perfect place for a huge Campus expansion

Not saying I want that to happen. But I can understand the reasoning far more for Monster's taking over the Muppet area given how easy this conversion and expansion seems to look on paper.

I do not want a city in DAK, so im thrilled by what we are getting instead there. Even though Dinosaur is my favorite ride at WDW

Harambe 2.0 but Columbia sounds fantastic by comparison to me

Would that justify why at the time it was announced as the Largest Expansion in Magic Kingdom's History.

So Coco and Encanto originally were to take the front of ROA still making people believe in the concept and wording as "Beyond Big Thunder" when it's not only to continue this trend to save their butts when came to D23. When Encanto got moved it turned into one decision Coco or Cars.

We were close to you mean before the unveiling of the very first concept art that had Villains in the backdrop for MK. If DHS was pitched for it, there wouldn't be a concept art for MK with V unless they changed their minds just before that.
