I understand the youngins wanting new IP they know. Many forget they parks were built on nostalgia. I don't know they can't have a balance with new and old. With all the land they have they should have no problem doing both.
They are making that balance in Frontierland by keeping Country Bears, Big Thunder Mountain, Frontierland Mercantile and (currently) Peco's Bill (OLD) and the new being Tiana's and Cars Rally Race

Hearing some twitter rumblings regarding project delays and internal uncertainty.

Might have just been a guess on the original poster part but seemingly said that tropical of America is furthering along and locked in out of all the projects.

Roa, villains land, other announced dca projects might experience delays or experience a “Houdini”…they basically pointed out to the port strikes, Iran/Israel war, election season, ongoing Russia v. Ukraine war and continuous fears of economic recession which have dampened some execs eagerness on pushing certain projects along.

Again, don’t shoot me, just sharing what I read.

I do agree with the notion that the world is in a weird spot right now on various fronts and I’m equally curious what effect this might have on certain projects happening vs not happening.

From what kinds of accounts? Known insiders or random people?

There’s definitely a lot of global uncertainty. The longshoremen strike is a massive blow. I certainly hope this project and Villain’s land get canceled that being said, I still see them going forward with this. They’ll probably just cut the budget massively or just cut the vaillains land.

I wish it was. There's plenty of land to throw Cars behind Big Thunder but I'm not holding my breath, I'm still fully expecting this project to go through, and if anything, Villains be the plan that gets cancelled/downscaled. Cars pushes more merch, sadly.
I hope it does not.

I hope they just cancel the cars thing and do a TRUE EXPANSION and add Villains land!

I want this river to be saved more than anybody here, but you guys aren't getting it. The whole purpose of this "expansion" is to fill in the river. This is because the riverboat itself is on its last legs, and the company doesn't want to spend the money to restore it. In the unlikely scenario this expansion gets cancelled, the government will eventually deem the riverboat unsafe, and Disney will drain the river, and put up construction walls until they can figure out what to do with it.

Will the riverboat be dragged back stage to rot in the Florida sun?

I heard they were going to send the riverboat to Paris for the theme park there.

Wait, so they want to spend literally hundreds of millions of dollars to avoid a couple hundred thousand dollar refurb on a boat?
It's a lot more expensive than a couple hundred thousand dollars, and let's not forget about how expensive the rivers upkeep is. Besides, the riverboat and TSI don't bring in enough capacity to make the company money, and so they are actively losing money on both the maintenance and staffing costs. Not to mention, it's a much better investment to slap multiple E ticket attractions, gift shops, and restaurants in that space.

I don't know what their plans are for the riverboat, but it would make sense for them to scrap it for parts, and fix the Mark Twain in DLP. But at the same time, I don't think it makes financial sense for there to be more than one riverboat in DLP.

So DLP should have a river and riverboat and WDW should not?

Interesting.

I still think Iger wants to damage MK so it loses the most visited title.

I truly think Iger hates Florida/WDW.

Just my opinion ;)
