Alright I always stay at POFQ but it is going to be unavailable for our short August trip. Anybody have reviews/thoughts on carribean Beach Resort? I trust this communities opinion.
Thanks for the insight!

Stayed 3 times now. Would do so this year too but are trying POR with friends.

Would certainly return. Aruba is our favourite village.

If you stay there put in a request for the Martinque or Trinidad north building if you dont want to walk far. They are both close to Port Royal (the food building) and have their own bus stops.

We loved it there so peaceful at night and in the morning when i'd walk to get my coffee.

Yes, go for one of these buildings because you can walk a really long way other wise. We've stayed there twice and loved it both times.

Now my wife and I always stay anr Port Orleans. When I was younger, my family always stayed at Carribean Beach. Now, I am sure my memory is fading as old age creeps in, but for some reason I thought the busses always where more crowded at the Beach resort.

Who knows?

To me, anywhere at Disney can and will be magical!

We stayed there for our honeymoon three years ago and had a fabulous time. We really liked their food options and still miss it to this day. We just found we had a lot of options. I do agree with the rest of the posters, that it is a little spread out so you want to make sure to request a spot near Port Royal for it will make your life a lot easier.

They have updated a lot of the rooms since we have gone. But both my brother in laws took their family to the resort this year and both had a blast. So all around I have heard nothing but good things from them about the resort....

And just remember, your in Disney so wherever you can get into your still going to have a fabulous time.

Stayed at Caribbean Beach Resort on our last trip back in January.

Will NOT be going back there again.

The resort itself is beautifully themed, yet the rooms are barely a step up from your local run-down Hotel 6. Beds are too small, rooms just have that "old smell" to them, bathrooms are barely the size of a phone booth. And the walk from the section you're staying in to the main facility with the food court and pool, etc.... is too long. If you go with your refillable mug to get something hot (coffee, cocoa, etc...) it would be cold by the time you navigated through the maze to get back to your section of the resort. Had issues with the TV and remote control in our room having to be replaced twice. Had a broken iron in the room. Apparently we were in the "Finding Nemo" themed rooms, I have to say that for a Disney resort, it was pathetic. You have a bedspread with Nemo characters on it and then a wallpaper boarder around the ceiling and they call that great theming? Come on.....

The eating options in the food court was pathetic, they didn't know how to manage the lines or have enough people working to help with the lines, and the CMs behind the counter were very rude to others in our party (talking back, or allowing other guests to merely come up and cut right in front of them, etc...)

I personally don't care for a place where I have to take a bus that makes 15 different stops just within your resort before it leaves to take you to the parks, or 15 stops to get to your own when you're tired and ready to get back to your room.

Normally we stay in the "deluxe" level resorts, but wanted to try something a little less expensive. I wasn't prepared for how much of a step down it was going to a "moderate" resort like this.

How far is the walking? Riverside was SOOO spread out really didn't like how far it was just to walk to food court.

Well, the problem is that Trinidad North and the closer half of Martinique are a separate room category called "preferred location," which costs $25 extra per night ... if you merely request it it's very doubtful you'll get it.

CBR is even more spread out than POR. Depending on the room you get, you may have a substantial amount of walking to get to Old Port Royale, the complex that has the food court, restaurant, shops, arcade, etc.

It is true that each of the 6 villages has its own bus stop, so there's no such thing as a room that's too far from a bus stop. And there is also an internal shuttle bus that loops through the resort to get people around from far-flung places within the resort.

I've stayed at both POFQ and CBR, and I love them both, for different reasons. POFQ is charming and quaint, and the pleasant compactness of the resort makes it SOOOO convenient and easy. But CBR is lush and beautiful. Because it's so spread out, it never feels crowded or bustling (except at the food court) even when it's sold out. The 45 acre lake, Barefoot Bay, adds great scenery.

If you're not willing to pay for preferred location, here are the three closest non-preferred location buildings to request (in no particular order): Aruba 51, Jamaica 45, Martinque 22.

Sassagoula-Rvr,

Since your acquainted with the Moderates, I think you'll be fine. We enjoyed our stay at CBR. I hope this helps - here's a portion of my review on allears.net:

"We visited WDW January 20th to the 27th. We stayed in Jamaica Bldg 41 - a Nemo room. It seemed very clean and new looking. The room was a nice size and fit its purpose. ... Although we left tips, we were visited by no towel animals. We could hear others through the walls which worried me with our rambunctious boys who weren’t ready to go to sleep at 10 p.m.

It seemed from the resort map that we were very far from the bus stop and OPR, but the walk wasn’t bad. It was a jaunt, but it wasn’t that bad. We didn't get resort refillable mugs because we didn't think we'd make it worth the while.

The buses ran frequently and we never had to wait more than 10 minutes, except once since we had just missed the one we wanted. Most of the EPCOT buses seemed to enter into the resort and make only three stops and leave the resort without going all the way around CBR. It was a short trip to DHS and not too long to get to MK or EPCOT.

CBR was beautifully landscaped and maintained. The beaches were well manicured. Most of the cast members were friendly and helpful - giftshop, mousekeeping, bell services, particularly.

The food court - the hamburgers were bad but the baked chicken was good. FYI - No Dr. Pepper products. I’m not sure if our 3 yr old liked the pizza, but we bought pb&j sandwiches often for our 3 yr old."

I agree with CleveRocks.

Enjoy your visit.

we stayed there in 2000 for our very 1st trip...and LOVED IT! it will always hold a special place for us....we were in the Martinique section, building 24 and were literally only a 5 minute walk IF THAT to the food court and a bus stop was right outside of our building.......plus a quiet pool was right out our door!!!!! could not have asked for a better location! Be sure to check out the coconut postcards in the giftshop! they are HUGE!!!!!!!!!!! The food court was amazing and the theme is spot on!

Stayed at CBR last trip.

New pool area was excellent.
I was happy with the busses -never a long wait (as opposed to the bad bus reviews I read)

The food court was poor-actually Pop's was better
The resort design is way too maze like. Even if you have a shorter walk, there is no direct way to the main buildings through the hotel area. Believe me, I spent the week trying different routes. The walks were tedious.

We stayed there in 07'. We previously stayed at all -stars so this was a nice upgrade. We enjoyed our stay. The pool was fab and Port Royal was very nice lots of options. The theming was great!. The rooms were nice and we had towel animals made for us a lot. But everyone is right its very spread out so I would request a room near port royal.:)

I agree with the poster who suggested requesting Martinique or Trinidad North buildings. I've stayed in both, although it was a while back, but the location was great. If you have issues with stairs, request a room on the first floor since there are no elevators.

One of my favorite sites to check our travelers' opinions is TripAdvisor.com
I know they are unbiased because I write for them myself.

CBR was the very first Disney resort we stayed in, a long time ago. Back when it WAS the value resort, with rooms at like $89.

We were quite pleased, though we only used the food court a couple of tiems and did not use the restaurant or the main pool. (being theme park commandos.

I prefer the location compared with the other Moderate resorts. It seems closer to more parks, as opposed to out at Downtown Disney for POR and nearly to AK for CS.

But honestly, we haven't stayed there in more than 10 years, so I really can't speak to the actual facilities todday.

The restaruant (not the food court) is OK. IT's not bad, but it's not something that I would go out of my way for.

I do not like the whole "customs house" thing, where check in and DME pick up is in an entirely seperate, and removed building. But then thats just because of the way I vaction. On my last day, I like to hang at the pool, eat at the resort restaruant, and then take the DME to the airport. All very relaxing. In CB there is the added schlep over to the customs house after swimming and dining. Not a big deal, but its my opinion

The rooms are OK. A tad bit small for a moderate, but not bad. The last time I was there was before the pool refurb, and I was happy with the pool then. Nice layout, proximity to pool bar, lockers, and dining.

We stay there often and love it but here are some suggestions:
1) Get a King bed room ( a little more $) but they are usually on a corner with more windows and seems bigger.
2) Plan to eat at the food court "off schedule". We made a mistake one time by sleeping in a little and after 8:30 AM it is a zoo. Get up early!
3) Rent a car if possible. Only bus we took was to MK. It is not a far walk to the bus stops but there is a "freedom" with having a car.

Haven't stayed there yet, but we are going in Dec. We are booked into one of the new Pirates of the Caribbean themed rooms and are looking forward to that. I have heard good things about them, other than they may be a bit of a walk from Port Royale... if that type of theming interests you, it is a bit extra, but we think it will be worth it.

Great Place to Stay

I stayed at CB in Late-Mary early April when it just starting the 'Spring Break' Crowd. THe resort was beautiful and the rooms were clean and comfortable. I was Jamaica and the walk to Port Royale was only 5-10 minutes. The bus service was good, I cannot remember waiting any more than 20 minutes for a bus. The food court was never packed where I could not get a table, it was busy but not bad!

I just booked a trip in October and are staying at CB again. I am going to use the walk to Port Royale as a way to walk off my meals.

Enjoy your trip at CB.
