Hey look. I just updated the Carousel!! Now If I can just update the audio on Scene 4 so that they narrator says 1990's, we'll be all set...... :hilarious:;)

All they have to do is update Act 4 to clearly show that is meant to be set in the 1990's ^^^

They nearly nailed it here, when they clearly state that the ride is set in the 20th Century, Not 20th and 21st....
It would not take much to change things around so that it is clearly stated in the show that it is set in the 1990's and not imply that it is set in the now.

This way it would save them from having to continually update the ride scene, which would risk it being shuttered eventually.

The original thought with the peoplemover was that it would give you little preview windows into the different attractions...so why not make the Space Mountain segment feel more like Space Mountain.,.. it used to have more of that when it opened as you could see into the home of Future Living and the queue and the entire starfield and moving ride vehicles... it also gave you several views into If You Had Wings and Mission To Mars... It is certainlt possible to make the People Mover a "Must Do" attraction...

I'd even settle for some little animatronic dioramas, almost anything... Just would like something to look at besides a dark pointless tunnel with a few sharp turns. Makes it a treat to be on peoplemover near the end of the night when spacemountain is down for maintenance and the lights are on.

Finally, officially doing something the will enable them to continue CoP for years to come. I've been suggesting that approach for years now. We came so close to losing CoP so many times over the last 20 years and now they finally established a way to keep it current by making it historical. That explains the thinking behind the new paint job and the upgrading of the interior over time. It is a major victory for all CoP fans.

It would be awesome if every 5-10 years they did an overhaul of that last scene. It honestly wouldn't take much; new clothes for the AAs, new TV and fridge. You can't really call it the Carosel of Progress and leave the last scene stuck in the 90s...

I think they should reinstate whatever the original ending was at the 1964 World's Fair and keep it as a treasured Walt classic. Of course this would tie into another idea I have that would never happen of moving the show to a new "Progressland" pavilion in Epcot that would also have a new version of Horizons where the idea would be that both attractions go hand in hand and "New Horizons" would pick up where CoP leaves off.

Of course now I'm veering into armchair Imagineering and getting off topic.

Agreed. They jump about two decades to the 1920 then to the 1940 and then they jump all the way up to the 1990s it's just too jarring. And they did a terrible job with that 1990 has scene as it does not look anything like the rest of the scenes. Could be more fun and interesting now just to go back to the original ending that Walt Disney had.

If that is the reason for getting rid of the stripes it will win the award for the biggest pile of BS that Disney has ever attempted to throw at the public.

No, the biggest piece of of BS was in 2008 or 2009 when Disney PR said the reason they were getting rid of prime rib from buffets was because guests preferred smaller cuts of lesser quality meat. No joke.

They could still call it progress because it is the progress of the 20th century, not the progress of all human time. ie 21st century 22nd century. ;)

Exactly the same reason why cereal companies started to put in less cereal without changing the box size. The public was upset because there was too much cereal in the boxes.

Exactly, they don't even have to change anything. Just promote it as a showcase of the progress through the 20th century. That would automatically focus, without anything extra, on how that compares with where we are today. Which in Tomorrowland is a daily happening. No matter when you are there, the following day is tomorrow. And the future will probably have something to do with Pokemon. :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:o_O

I rode the Carousel today and I must say things have certainly improved from my last time. The exterior looks amazing, and that's just the start. The side curtains on each stage have fortunately lost the transparency they had been gaining over the last few years. The audio seems to be at appropriate levels as well; no sounds are overpowering the voices. For me at least, it was a little odd in Act 3 seeing the Jack-o-lantern moved from the table to on top of the fridge.

I'd say CoP is definitely on the upswing.

EXACTLY! I have said this many times... the original ending and setting would allow it to be a little time capsule that would not need updating...they could even make the last scene even a little more retro futurist... but not cartoony... But that would all allow them to not have to update every 10 years which was the original plan... Sometimes the obvious solution seems to elude TDO

Although I understand that and really wouldn't object, the original ended in the 60. There were 40 more years of discovery and development after that. When the goal was to have the last scene be the future, it was necessary to somehow come up with a vision for the future. That might have been easy in the beginning of the 20th century, but, it surely did stop with the beginning of the space age. That is where most of our later technology had its beginning.

Leaving the last scene where it is now covers the 20th century from beginning to end thus making it a more realistic historical depiction of the 20th century. So, I'm OK with just leaving it there, with AA upgrades and the like. I hadn't heard that the original plan was a 10 year upgrade. It was created for the 64 Worlds Fair with no real knowledge of it ever going beyond that. After when it was incorporated into Disneyland, they might have thought that, but, the way that Walt operated he might easily have just replaced the whole thing for something new by then. So I think that was a later plan, not original, and as technology developed at warp speed in the latter part of the 20th, the realized that it wouldn't be possible to predict the future. They tried it again with Epcot and I think it is pretty clear that didn't work out either.

Saw this comment a few minutes ago on a post about the new color scheme and everything, someone commented there's a chance of a redone ending scene? Any insiders hear anything? I usually just go off this website as it always has the right info before anyone else
