News Caribbean Beach Expansion

Some would say even two years is a pretty lax timetable to build a hotel.

Yes but in FL they are building on a old swamp with a water table inches below the surface so even a midrise building needs extensive foundation work and that takes time.

As to the glacial pace of park construction no excuse lightweight structures in most cases

Due to the hurricane prep covers are comming off slot of the fences. Here is a few photos of the front of Centertown. LOTS of structural steel on site. More over by the bus stop not photographed. Going to the pool later might have more pics then

Photo update as of Tuesday, September 26. The first concrete base pillars are seen at the new resort tower at Caribbean Beach. The trusses on the right are not in place, just laying nearby.

The steel frame for the new port-cochere at the Old Port Royale Centertown is taking shape in front of the original building.

So in regards to this project, can someone details about this expansion?

Is the Riviera resort going to be part of the Caribbean Beach or is it supposed to be a completely separate resort and theme? It is right up next to parts of CBR and would appear that the guests staying at the Riviera would be walking to Old Port Royale to use the food, pool and other amenities.

If they are separate resorts, will CBR getting a new entrance / exit or will CBR and Riviera just share the original entrance / exit that is there now?

It will be a seperate resort with its own theme and it's own amenities. CBR will be getting a new entrance/exit.

It will be nice to bounce between the two Resorts. I much prefer that over the isolated, stand alone Resorts.

The Caribbean is a lively place. Hope this Resort gets some cool dining, shopping, lounge places that can enhance a visit.

The steel drum bands back in the day (pre 2000s) really added some energy to OPR outside in the evenings.
