Captian Eo v.s. Hunny I Shrunk the audience

HISTA was just OK...I mean it was fun once, the way EO was fun once (and really, only when it had the extra effects!) They are so ready for something new.

Even if they showed a series of 3D Pixar shorts it would be an improvement to what is there now.
Heck...bring back the cheestastic Magic Journeys...even that is an improvement.

it is my fervent hope that they gut the entire Imagination pavilion and start over from scratch.
I know this won't happen, because Disney hasn't met an old piece or mechanic that they didn't want to recycle...

But how awesome it would be to bring some real imagination back to the attraction that celebrates it!

I watched EO in January and it was a cool flashback to the 80's. I think they will keep it running for another year and then hopefully have an all new film. Maybe they could do something similar to Philharmagic with pixar charecters??

I managed to see Eo during my last trip in April/May, having seen it "back in the day" during my senior trip to WDW (pre-MGM Studios, even). The audience, included me, laughed like it was an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000. Whatever reverence they wanted us to have for MJ's "legacy" was magically wiped away by the sheer 80s cheesiness of it all. And while it was a weekday in May when I was there, late morning, the theater was at best half-full.

Here's hoping it gets replaced soon. With what, I do not know. I'm almost starting to think it'd be better to use the space for a live show or some other attraction that's not a 3-D movie. Let's face it, we all have the ability to experience 3-D in a local googolplex with bowel-loosening sound, all that would be missing are the wind/water effects and you're payig much less than a day at a WDW park for it. The other 3-d attractions at WDW make good use of their space and their theme so a new movie at Epcot would have to physically transform the theater to make it feel like a different world. I've not been to Universal in like 7 years, but I remember what they did for Spiderman, the way they used 3-d tech there, was revelatory IMHO. I quite frankly don't know if WDW has it in them to create something new and amazing with 3-D tech.

Anyone else read about the new 48 frames per second footage they're shooting for The Hobbit?
If Disney wanted the new 3D movie here to really be something special, they could shoot it in a similar super-high framerate with similar technology to the 3Ality.
It could even be something otherwise relatively low-budget and freeform like Magic Journeys- the novelty of lifelike motion and 3D effects would be enough to elevate the attraction above the standard 3D films people can see at the theater every other month. After all, it sounds like even when The Hobbit comes out most local theaters won't have the ability to project it at its full resolution and framerate.

At least for a while.

It was designed that way for Captain EO and they just left it that way for HISA
No; it was the other way around. The border was designed for HISTA but left for EO. Anyways, although its musical score was great, HISTA seemed like a 3D film from the 1950s (anyone remember red & blue glasses?). Captain EO succeeded in both musical score and storyline. When I went in the end of June, Captain EO got a MASSIVE applause when it started, similar to what Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace got back in 1999. HISTA got nothing like that during its 15-year run.

If anything, I'd love to see the old "True Colors" pre-show retweaked and return - at least as a replacement to that awful "making of" montage. There were a few occasions where I would go in just to watch that, with no intention of staying for HISTA. Yes, it was a glorified Kodak commercial, but at least it had a nice message that actually fit the pavilion's theme.

Isn't this exactly what everyone said when HISTA was running? I very much remember alot of people saying "Captain EO would be a good replacement rather than nothing!" and now.. "HISTA would be a good replacement rather than nothing!"

I really would've thought ya'll had learned by now that when change needs to come.. it needs to be new. Hense the reason the old version was replaced in the first place??? Helloooo!!

I think of both of them the same. As far as I'm concerned, other than M:S and TT's refurb... It seems to me the most un-outdated attraction/most entertaining attraction in Future World at this point.

I never enjoyed Honey, I Shrunk the Audience. It scared me every time I went to see it.
I kind of like Captain Eo but as everyone said,it's outdated and all the 80's clothes, hair & music just makes me want to laugh when I'm watching it.

I just want a new 3-D movie. Okay Disney. Put those thinking caps on now.

Captain EO only makes sense if you're 7 years old or stoned out of your mind. Personally I don't want to see either there so I can't really vote.

I'm organizing a write in ballot - something Alice in Wonderland 3D. If I'm going to have a trippy ride in the Imagination pavilion let's go all the way!

Love captain EO. Common EGROEG SACUL was the producer. And the song leaving the studio was the best part. I would be 10 years old dancing and singing to it all day. Disneys just another part of me. My own little twist....

But i do agree that a better 3D short should be incoperated and most of us are willing for the change. Weather we likes EO or HISTA.

I feel like Captain EO is just awful, would rather HISTA return than EO stay but agree with many here what's really needed is something new!

EO is FAR superior to HISTA. I hated HISTA as a kid because of the annoying in theater effects. Captain EO on the other hand is cheesy, but awesome. I hope it stays until a new attraction is ready to replace it.

I don't like the movie or the pavilion anymore and it was once one of my favorites. I understand they wanted to change the attraction some but I never understood why that meant closing off the rainbow tunnel and the rest of the stuff upstairs. I agree that the entire area needs a refurbishment and I vote for Phineas & Ferb (not sure I spelled that right). It seems like a perfect fit and it's really popular with kids. It's also one of those shows that I don't cringe when my daughter watches the same episode for the 100th time. I find it very creative and well done and that's what this area is lacking right now. Please don't continue with Caption EO and please don't bring back HISTA. I'm really hoping for better.
