Captain Marvel

Hmmmmm. We’ll see. That would be pretty high for a solo origin film I think only being beat by Black Panther. Could be part of the Endgame hype which is likely what Disney wanted to do by releasing it so close.

I’m in line at the theater already to see the movie that made the internet explode lol.

What time does yours start? Mine’s at 8.

It’s got the Endgame hype more than anything, but it’s not getting that Black Panther money. Doctor Strange grossed $85M and $325M globally. I think $125M is a little high, but $100M seems about right.

Really good film..

I think they tried to use some of the Guardians formula in the film tho.. with the pop references and music choices being a bit more 'reference centric' then previously done in most of the MCU films.

The 'girl power' theme is certainly there, but in a tolerable dose.

Really good movie... this is the kind of movie that should do really well with word of mouth I think. You don't need to be a MCU junkie to keep up... the tie-ins are there, but not always NEEDED to keep up. You just get more from it understanding the references.

The Stan Lee tribute prior to the film is awesome and will bring a tear to your eye.

Really good film.. suggest seeing it asap

That Stan Lee opening should be on Endgame and Spider-Man as well.

Wow. Look, I don’t know what movie the negative critics were watching. I just saw a fun movie with some great characters and a story that I did not see coming.

The movie had a solid three act structure, and I’m pretty dang happy.

I really hope it is. Especially because one of the Spider-Man quotes was in the title.

One thing I love if I’m interpreting it correctly,
she can’t take on Thanos by herself. Her powers come from a single Infinity Stone and he still has all 6. I can’t see there being a way unless they get the gauntlet off of him.

From the way they explained it too it seems like if the Space Stone were ever destroyed she could potentially lose her powers. If Thanos could somehow be able to manipulate that link between her and the Stone holy crap the drama

Also, SHE’S NOT A MARY SUE!!!!! :D

I’m not sure if this is really a spoiler but I’ll use the tag anyway.

On the girl power bit there is one thing that I found weird.
When talking about Carol’s crash her friend Maria mentioned how they flew those experimental missions because women weren’t allowed to fly in the airforce yet and those missions were the only way they could fly. Her crash happened in 1989. After looking it up women have been allowed in the proper airforce since 1976.

It’s a small thing, but someone goofed on the history to make things seem worse than they were.

Women could be pilots, but not fly combat missions. It wasn't until around 1995 they actually started having combat flights.

During the long period of no standing conflicts - having actual combat flight time and actual kills was a HUGE differentiator in the ranks. So in their late 80s period... 'do anything cool' meant to actually have a shot at the real missions[/spoilers]

On the end credits scene.
I love how she just popped in like Batman. I thought it was hilarious and it actually got me even more pumped for Endgame.

And Goose is just adorable through the whole movie 😍

most of the screenings were busy here tonight. I was able to buy tickets this morning still.. so not madness... but most screens had all the prime seating gone. Didn't look in the afternoon...
The theater I went to had was showing it every 15 minutes, so my 8:00 viewing was maybe only half full. I think they were anticipating the Endgame crowds.
