Reading about the Captain Marvel premiere last night. So annoyed that this was turned into a "GIRL POWER!!!!" fest. Can't a movie just be enjoyed? Can't I just sit down and watch Captain Marvel and just be entertained by what's on the screen? Does EVERYTHING these days have to have a socio-political agenda, be a showcase for someone's agenda, et al.? So sick of this crap...

Someday I hope we will realize what a mistake social media was.

You could just not read about it, go in excited, and just enjoy it as (most likely) a really good super hero movie.

I won't be seeing it until I go to Disney World. Don't like the politics behind it. Just be a good movie. That's all I won't. From what I am hearing it is average. I'm sure it will do well. Strange that my daughters aren't really excited about this movie.

If it’s any consolation my brother apparently saw one review that complained the movie isn’t feminist enough. As if that’s a bad thing lol.

Got my ticket for Thursday night in IMAX. For me I’m about as curious as I was for Ant-Man and Doctor Strange but there’s also the added weight of Marvel coming out and stating that she’s “the new face of the MCU.” That’s a huge weight to put on a character that’s brand new when we’ve had Tony Stark and Steve Rogers for 10 years. A mighty big hill to climb. They should’ve waited to see reception before making such a bold statement.

Really strange. Don’t they know how much this movie is supposed to fight for their rights?

Even though they already have rights.

I've seen some... interesting... tweets around the movie. Like, if you're a white male hater, don't bother showing up to the movie. I'm like... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot??? And... I just realized this is starting to trend towards the political, so I'll stop. :)

Movie still looks good (as does Ms. Larsen). People need to take off whatever-colored glasses they are wearing, get rid of the social agendas, and just watch the movie for what it is - a super hero movie, a 2 hour break from reality that is (hopefully) free from messages and agendas.

So I just saw a clip that included Coulson talking... and I’m really hoping the de-aging for him is actually better than what I saw. Looked a little too airbrushed.

In comparison to Fury, it doesn’t look as convincing (but still pretty damn good)

I saw that complaint in one review and holy crap they were right. Looks like Leia in Rogue One levels of facial CGI.

No offense to you of course Leia.
Nah, CGI Leia was kind of an insult to see right after Carrie’s death. I don’t think it’s that bad (in comparison to Leia), but Marvel has done better.

I’m trying to avoid reviews now. There was one on Variety that I read that gave away like half the movie, so I’m done looking at them.

Rogue One was 11 days before she died. Unless you saw it after of course.

I thought what set Marvel above the rest was that it wasn't just beat'm up fun, but that there was a social message behind the characters and their stories. That's why I thought it was a good pairing with Disney- there's fun, but in that fun, there's art and morality.
