Captain EO final show on 12/6 - Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival to be the replacement

I see where everyone is coming from with the HISTA return requests. Something is better than nothing. But, Disney should be able to give us a new state of the art film in that location every 3-5 years. They've got a theatre set up for "4D" movies and the money to keep the effects and film state of the art. I'd worry that we'd be in some kind of weird long-term HISTA, Magic Journeys, EO mobius strip and 15 years from now the only people in the theater are confused tourists who came in to escape the rain.

Except that 15 years from now would probably only give enough time for one change at the current pace....

Anyway, I agree with you on the main point that the premiere motion picture company and theme park company and special effects house (with Industrial Light and Magic, which they acquired with Lucasfilm) should be reasonably expected to be able to produce a state-of-the-art 3-D film-based attraction as new evey few years. Period. No excuse.

I think it would be due to the "Institute" Theme they've been using and it's an easy thing to bring back IMO.

It is a tighter fit thematically than anything that has been in that theater. I can't argue with that. I would still like something new. It wouldn't be as big an issue if ImageWorks was restored to full operational capacity and the ride wasn't ensconced in an era of lameness (something which I hope isn't permanent).

You're right. In 2028 they'd remove HISTA and we'd have someone standing in front of the theater introducing a "True Disney Classic....Magic Journeys." Luckily, the CM could be fully nude with lit sparklers taped all over their body since no one would be present for the intro.

The only recent rumor on this is an Inside Out movie. I really dislike the idea, and really wish Epcot had a much better direction than it currently has.

The Imagination Pavilion should be gutted and a new story with Dreamfinder and Figment should be the basis of the pavilion. If that's just a ride and post show, that's fine, otherwise a ride and a movie could also work. It is without question the best possible area for the trackless ride system in WDW.

I agree with the sentiment if not all the details (which really aren't that important). It seems like there's not even the hint of any direction or vision for the park.

Oh nice - they're not just closing it down!

It sounds kind of like a DVD extra in 3D (with additional effects?)... it may not be a world-changing new attraction, but I happen to love DVD extras, so I'm excited to see what they come up with :D
