Forgive me if this has been posted somewhere else, but it looks like Captain EO is going to be closing for good this time on December 6

This, makes me happy!
Not sure what they have planned, but they better get moving quickly to get something in there and running before the crowds that are going to build when Soarin' is closed.
Previews are okay, I guess, but it needs something permanent that can draw crowds on a consistent basis.

The fear of course is that Disney will put up one of it's patented construction walls and replace with nothing.

It only make me happy if it's replaced by something soon, other then more movie previews.

I think there are now 6 threads on this topic this morning alone? Everyone wants to get the scoop on EO, I guess.

Yes, it is hated that much! Personally, I've never seen it so I'm neutral. But it is time to lay it to rest as it's not what anyone seems to consider a Disney "Classic" by any means.

The anticipated course is that Disney will put up one of it's patented construction walls and replace with nothing.

Fixed that for ya buddy. ;)

I am more than glad. Right now EPCOT is so sad, my wife and I do Spaceship Earth sometimes Test Track then head to World Showcase. It is a shadow of its former self. We used to be able to spend most of the day there in the 80's and 90's, even the communicores were interesting and worthy of time. Saw my first demo of HD TV there in the 90's. Hope I live long enough to see a total overhaul.

Not that I will especially miss Captain EO, but there's something kind of depressing about Disney's habit of shutting things down long before replacements have been announced. As a guest, I feel like an empty shell of a building makes for worse show than an outdated or unattended attraction. Is it really that much more economical to just shut things down? I mean, if Universal can keep Twister alive until the day before it's bulldozed...

I remember Tony Baxter mocking this attitude of the company towards Disneyland in the 90s on the Season Pass Podcast, but it seems it's alive and well. Are the economics of gradually converting a park into a Fallout map really that compelling?

Any chance the Imagination pavilion goes the way of the Wonders of Life pavilion? I mean, I hope not, but Journey's not pulling in significant crowds by any means...

Captain EO was a special case of wasted talent though. With so many talented people involved from Francis Coppola, George Lucas and renowned choreographer Jeffery Hornaday to Michael Jackson and Anjelica Huston. The score was even done by James Horner!

Yet even with all of that high-profile talent on-board, the project still somehow turned out to be a trainwreck.
