Captain EO final show on 12/6 - Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival to be the replacement

So they're removing an attraction and replacing it with old Disney shorts. I rarely post, but my only reaction to this is *facepalm*

More like they are replacing an old 3D movie with most likely newer disney/pixar 3D shorts.

Very true. I suppose by old I simply meant something not "never before seen". I think (hope) all would label this inferior/lazy compared to an actual imagineered park attraction. I suppose they had to come up with the 4D effects to go along with the shorts... So probably Riley's First Date, Feast, Frozen Fever, maybe a Toy Story short.

I agree with most, another abandoned attraction in Future World closed off with walls and/or bushes.

I assume short term, they are going to rotate out different "film festivals" as they are apparently calling this one...

Long term? Who the heck knows. Maybe something with the 350 million earmarked for Epcot.

I'd say Get a Horse is more likely to be included then Riley's First Date or Frozen Fever.

Of course, if the shorts selection was up to me, I'd totally expose a captive Florida audience to Destino or Lorenzo.

The fear of course is that Disney will put up one of it's patented construction walls and replace with nothing.

Excited! Anything would be better than EO. A shuttered pavilion would be better than EO. This sounds like fun! Hope that one day soon they redo the whole pavilion and fix figment like it deserves! I have to believe that after all the renovations at Hollywood studios, AK, MK, and Disney Springs that Epcot is next. They just need to pick a direction and stick to it!!!!

I would be shocked if Frozen Fever wasn't one of the three shorts. I mean, this is the park getting a Frozen ride and meet and greet next year.

My reaction when I first read this was a lot of four letter words. I still feel the same way and whoever made this decision needs to slap themselves in the mouth a few dozen times. Ah well, at least I still have my souvenir glasses from the show....

What's the connection between Disney shorts and Future World? How does old short films represent a bold vision for the future and how humanity might live?

Or is Epcot now just a 'shove any old IP in a building' park with no theming to speak of?

Epcot used to be a theme park. Now it seems it's just an unthemed shopping mall (with a cinema, like every other mall), except it costs $100 to go there. What a waste.
