Can't take waiting anymore...

I'm sitting here waiting for my husband to get home with news of whether his vacation has been approved or denied. We are trying to get a trip in for May 2011 as we have a PIN and it has to be booked by the end of the month. The waiting is killing me. I just want to get on the phone and book everything right now. How does everyone handle the anticipation and the potential disappointment if you don't end up being able to go?

Oh I feel your pain! I hate waiting! The night before I am able to make the ADR's, I can't sleep!! As for waiting for the vacation time to be approved, just keep yourself as busy as possible today and just hope! Hope for the magical moment for when he comes home and tells you that he got the time off! :sohappy:

Dealing with disappoint if you end up not being able to go - i've unfortunately become an expert in this area. My DH and I have planned and canceled 3 trips in the past year and half. The first was Oct of 2009 - I switched jobs and couldn't take the time off and we canceled. The next was March of 2010. In Jan, we found out that we would be moving to Wash DC and we were in the mix of moving and my DH just started a new job. So, we canceled. And the last trip - this is the one that is the most disappointing - I'm a nanny and my DH and I had a big trip planned for the end of this month - I was to run the Princess Half Marathon. And I started with a new family in Jan and didn't feel right taking that kind of time off so soon so I canceled. I found out 3 weeks into the job that they are going to be off almost that whole week so that I would have had the time off too. So how do I get over it if we can't go - I hop on the boards here and talk about Disney - and just start looking at the calendar to find a new time to go!! :sohappy:

I hope you hear good news soon!!

No reason you can't book now. If your husband's vacation isn't approved you have the option to go without him :drevil:, or cancel with a full refund [Room-only can cancel up to 5 days prior to check-in, Packages up to 45 days prior].

Thanks Monty. I do know about the cancellation times, but I'm actually more concerned about getting a flight. I got a great deal with Air Miles and I'm just hoping it's still available. Last year, we waited to long to get a flight and we paid an arm and a leg and almost got bumped from the flight to-boot. And there is NO way I could go without him. That's divorce territory, haha.

We do this every year! I pick my vacation in December, but my wife picks her's in late January early February. We go ahead and book, praying she can get off the week I did!! Luckly she does, but we always go in March... a month nobody evers picks first!! We will be there in 26 days!!

Well I just got off the phone with Disney and we got exactly what we wanted. 8 nights at POR. We are trying this trip without the dining plan and I'm a little anxious about it. I liked knowing we had almost everything paid for, but it was approx $800 for the plan, plus the tips and we figured we didn't need all the food that was included with the plan. I'm so excited I'm on cloud 9 and doing my "Disney" dance!

I am so happy to hear that he got his time off approved. I know that has to take a load off your mind! Now you can start making sure you have everything ready and start really planning. May will be here before you know it!

my sisters and i have gone together the past two years (just us sisters no husbands kids etc...) so when we're waiting (we just booked this week for the fall again...yeah...) we send each other disney questions like what is your favorite xxx, top 5 xxx, where in the park is this pic from, trivia questions that sort of thing. we also have a countdown running for the day we can do our adr's and for when we actually leave for the trip. i also walk 5 miles most days a week so before our last trip i added a bunch of disney music and the ride through from rides like haunted mansion, the monorail loop track etc...to my mp3 player. it puts me in the disney zone and makes walking a little less boring. i know it's really killing me when i see a hidden mickey from motor oil drops on the road and catch myself sending a pic of them to one of my sisters lol.
