Broke my leg back in June. It was a severe injury requiring surgery due to the fact that every bone in my lower leg snapped. I am still unable to walk without crutches and even on crutches I can not stay on my feet for long. I had to cancel my trip to Disney (my favorite place in the world) because I spend most of my time laid up. I was also suppossed to start college this past week but I had to delay my first semester until the Spring. My entire summer consisted of sitting on the couch unable to do anything. Now, I still have months to go before I can get my life back to normal even a little bit. Needless to say I am bummed. I went from looking forward to vacation and college to seeing no end in sight for my recovery. Please cheer me up I could really use some kind words :)

I'm sorry that you had to cancel your trip.

Disney will still be there when you are healed and you will go back there. The money you aren't spending going out can help you pay for a future trip.

Being couch bound doesn't have to be all bad. I would watch the American Film Institute's Top 100 films or the Oscar's Best Pictures winners of each year.

Spend some time preparing for the classes you will take in Spring. You have extra months with the text books and that can get you straight As in your first semester.

Learn a craft. You can knit caps for chemo patients, crochet blankets for preemies in the hospital etc.

When you miss Disney a lot, watch the ride throughs on youtube, watch the planning videos and look through old pictures.

You will get better and you will go to Disney again.

Here are some words that cheer me up "Your trip starts in 16 days!" Of course tomorrow I'll have to change that to 15 but it works like a charm! :sohappy:

I'm very sorry to you about your leg. It sure does not sound like fun. But look on the bright side..you are getting better and everything will be back to normal again soon. You can always reschedule your trip to the world..it will always be there for you. And school...you might have to work a little harder but you can always finish on time with an extra class each semister or a class or 2 over the summer. Keep you chin up and smile on...hey its almost HOCKEY time and CAPS will be playing the Flyers (rookie game) here in a couple of weeks!!! LETS GO CAPS!!!!!

That is terrible that you not only had to cancel DW but also had to postpone your education. Be patient with yourself and don't be frustrated of the things you can't do but try and think of what you can. It is hard.

Also don't know if you are a big reader, but I too, was injured for a long while recovering for an illness and I read Mouse Junkies, Vault of Walt, and Keys to the Kingdom which may help to keep you excited about going again soon to Disney. It will happen and will give you something to strive for.

While I know you are "down in the mouth" as we say in the south, know that Disney will be even better and more ready for you when you can get there next time. Start a new countdown and plan a new trip. Give yourself something to look forward to when you are recovered and ready to go back next time-which will be here soon. Hope this helps you some. Best wishes to you.

I've been in a velcro boot since early July with a torn Plantar Fascia, but it looks like I'll be "booting the boot" soon. Although it didn't involve surgery, it has been a long healing process, and I'm finally making leeway with physical therapy. I totally get how frustrated you feel, but you will heal, and you will get back to WDW. It all takes time, and ultimately you're the only one who can decide how you're going to handle it.

For right now, do some reading that you wouldn't normally get time to do, watch a few movies that you've always put off watching, or learn a new hobby that you've always wanted to try. The gift of time can be so precious if you let it. ((hug))

Definitely sucks to see your summer, your vacation, and your education all get put off like that. As some have said, maybe try preparing for your future classes? Many universities also offer distance or online education courses, maybe taking one or two of them right now would help keep you busy and at least give you a start on your degree. I worked full time and finished my degree in 5 years and did many online classes. They required a really good work ethic and motivation, but they can also be a great way to feel out university a little bit before jumping in. Have a better idea what a university paper is like to do, without being in school full time and stressing over deadlines so much. If your school doesn't offer this, often enough you can do it at another university and have the credits transfer over, it might be worth looking into. You can private message me if you'd like to hear about the classes I took and which university, I wont bore with the details here :p

As for the vacation, I'd say it's too bad it's postponed, but the silver lining is when you do go, FLE may be partially or fully open so you'll have an even better experience waiting for you. You could also save up in the meantime and either upgrade that vacation or work towards another goal like a new car sooner... give yourself something else to look forward to.

Wow, I'm so sorry that your injury has thrown off so much for you! It can be hard to think positively at a time like this, but I can say from personal experience that things do get better.

Sometimes things just seem to be stacked against you, but I can say from personal experience that your hard times will pass, and before you know it, you'll be starting your college courses and planning for your next Disney trip. Hang in there, it'll get better!

I know exactly how you feel..I have a chronic sprain w a trapped tendon in my right ankle. Fortunately I am able to walk but very slowly. Unfortunatley mine wont go away it's here to stay. Just think positive, continue w therapy if need be and keep your head up. Take it 1 day at a time. I know its hard and frusterating at times but only your body knows the healing process. Stay patient. Just think you have something to look forward when your healed. Best of Luck. Remember stay POSITIVE :)

Sorry for your injury. I had to cancel my trip last January because of back surgery. Although I was disappointed I had to cancel but scheduled a trip for the day after my last Doctors appointment and had something to get me through the days on my back.

How insensitive!!! The poor OP can't go to WDW and you're gloating about your upcoming trip!

OP, as others have said, WDW will be there when your leg is better, I wish you a very speedy recovery!

So sorry you had to cancel. It is too bad you could not at least start college with online classes from the school to stay up to date. Look on the bright side, Disney will still be there, you will recover, and the sun will still rise.

It could be much worse, believe me. I have experienced it and many on here have had experiences just as bad.
