Check out the final performance of Off Kilter video posted on this site. If you have never seen them, this is one of the finest performances I have ever seen them do and shows all the love and respect they have for their fans. It is listed on the main page on the left hand side. Marie
Yes I have watched it, as well as the final performance video of Mo'Rockin. Both looked fantastic last night and to perform with such life and energy after decades of performing...I wished I could've been there!

Seriously?! This is the entertainment that's the replacement?o_O:banghead:

Now that they've obviously cut the budget by large, can they bring Beaver Tails back to the kiosk outside? That's the only way I'm going to put up with this rubbish!
Deal!! Not completely forgiven, but at least I wouldn't have to pelt them with day old timbits!!

I'm a bit surprised Disney would have a show about lumberjacks in the same park where they show a film (CoL at The Land) telling us how cutting down trees is bad.

Shows like this aren't my cup of tea so I'm a bit biased toward them. It's a pass for me, hopefully someone else will enjoy it.

Folks on the wdw sub reddit are saying the exact opposite. They said the band wanted out... and did not want to sign (be tied down to) another 5yr deal at Epcot. *shrugs*

*confused*
I am not familiar with Reddit, but I can tell you those words of wanting to continue were from the band members themselves, all of the substitutes I spoke with ( 3 to be exact) and two of the full time members. None were happy about having to leave such a great gig. I can certainly understand that one. How many musicians do you know that have a full time gig playing music with a steady paycheck and full time employment benefits including health insurance, and vacation time?? They would be very foolish to terminate a job like that if there was any other choice. Marie

It works because nobody ever watches CoL :p

Although, it does make you wonder if they would tell a fan, 'We're sick of this, can't wait to leave'. I mean, their fans were the best so I would think a standard answer of 'We're not happy to be leaving' would make sense. But, I guess the reason doesn't matter now...they are gone.

I was sad watching. After the last encore you could see security coming in from backstage to what looked to be to escort them off stage. Then the one guy tech came on stage and looked to be disconnecting something in the equipment. The fans wanted them to play on and the guys looked like they did not want to stop. I was shedding a tear or two watching their Epcot career ending.

They did not know they were being terminated until literally the night I posted this and would have continued happily performing at EPCOT for years to come. They absolutely wanted to be saved, but Disney wasn't budging on this one at all. They certainly were not ready to hang up the kilts and the band is every bit as devastated at the fans are. It is heartbreaking. Marie

Thanks for the info. This makes me even more sad thinking that they wanted to continue. I hope I get to see them again some day. That is if the band stays together.

Yeah you definitely get the vibe watching that that they were escorted off the stage by security, and that tech guy ran out there disconnecting equipment real fast. Awkward.

With apologies to President Lincoln for paraphrasing a quote attributed to him.

You can please some of the people all of the time, all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time.

Based on this thread, I have to add that it seems you can't please some of the people any of the time.

I'm heartbroken for the Off Kilter fans. The show seemed to be excellent, although, I never watched an entire show (the sound of bagpipes doesn't agree with my ears.) When the news of their dismissal came, I had hoped Disney would replace the band with another good quality band.

The announced Lumberjack theme had me envisioning men singing about chopping down trees. (((groan)))

The Paul Bunyon show, if it is anything like the videos online, is just a poor attempt at a band-aid to cover up a wound. It could be entertaining the first time around, but I don't think I'd watch more than 5 minutes of it at a time. I doubt many folk would sit and watch an entire show unless they're just exhausted and need a place to sit. Hopefully I'm wrong and it turns out to be really popular. I'd hate to see those entertainers disrupt their lives to move to Florida only to be let go.

No probably not, but they would say something like we are exploring other options, or other venues. I can even believe that they wanted to move on to explore other careers but in this case, that isn't true. Marie

I will be the first to tell you that when lumberjack competitions come on ESPN...I'm stopping channel surfing and I'm watching it! I find it utterly fascinating what these guys do with saws and how fast they do it. I watched Off Kilter once, but I will not be missing them. These guys....cannot wait to see them when I am down there in December.
