Canadian Lumberjack Show to open at Epcot's Canada Pavilion in early October

So either they are saving a ton of money as this show isn't worth a dime, which implies, sadly, that Off Kilter was way overpaid. My point is, if this is saving any negligible amount money over the alternative (leaving OK in place, then OK was making decent cash) But that leads me to another thing, though I find the lumberjack show, based on the one video we have, atrocious, I think some people need to be a little realistic over what they replaced. Folks are stating things along the lines that the lumberjack show is something you can see at a county fair, and that's probably right, but they are also making it sound as if Off Kilter were Rush or some other iconic Canadian rock band (though they were no more Canadian than I am, which is to say I have some relatives from Nova Scotia and I like poutine) But folks, hit up a few pubs and you'll find bands no unlike Off Kilter, and yes, some even with bagpipers. They were great, but they're no more or even less one of a kind than the lumberjack show. Just better than it. Much, much better than it. If they take the time to level the existing stage and build a proper place to put this show on, perhaps it will improve. They sorely need a log rolling pool.
Let's start a petition for Rush to play the Canada pavilion then. They're sure to be a hit

So let's take bets. Will the Disney Parks Blog make any announcement about the new Lumberjack Show? Two very delicate issues at play - 1. the removal of Off Kilter, and 2. a poorly received new show.

I didn't like OK. At all. Wasn't the least bit disappointed when it was announced they were getting the axe (pun intended).

However, after watching this video its clear the lumberjack show is a pretty terrible replacement. It made me cringe just watching it, you know that uncomfortable feeling you get when you're embarrassed for someone.

Lumberjacking is a job not an ethnically unique piece of Canadian culture. The U.S. has lumberjacks as does any country with a lumber industry. I would prefer my country not being represented with a profession.

Why? What people do is a major part of culture. Ninja, samurai, queen, emperor, shepherd, RCMP officer, farmer, acrobat, ballerina, waiter, chef, mariachi... That's like saying you don't want to be represented by your food, or your mythology, or your music.

Beside the whole Canadianness argument, though, I find that a lot of people have taken their upset feelings about the loss of a beloved part of the World, and turned it into rather hateful vitriol. The men who do this may not be up to your standards of entertainment, but the personal attacks are way off line. Not just personal attacks to the performers, but to whole broad swatches of America dependent on what sports they enjoy, or what entertainment they watch. I've visited this site for nearing ten years, and this site was the escape from the dirtier corners of the fandom. I hope attitudes like that are not indicative of the direction this site is going in.

Sorry, I define culture as food, mythology, history, art and so forth.

I don't recall being hateful and insulting to the performers one bit. They are not Canadian but either were Off Kilter that is a fact not an insult. I find the content being represented as culture personally insulting but that has nothing to do with the performers.

If you want to accuse me of something then kindly quote that.

No, the Jack show is awful.

Has nothing to do with my cup of tea or preferences. It's just not entertaining.

This reminds me of something that should be at Wild Adventures, which is a very regional theme park here in Georgia. Nothing against the guys in the act, but it just doesn't come off as Disney. I never really stopped to watch the band as I always just want to ride again and again, but I know I wouldn't stop for this. Not at Disney.

Well, given how important the fishermen of New England, the farmers of the Great Plains, the factory workers at the auto plants in Detroit, the cowboys of the West, and so on have been in shaping the cultures of those places, I think your premise of what people do not being a part of culture at all to be completely insane but it doesn't sound like there's going to be any change on this.

The second point about the personal attacks was not directed at you. Sorry for the misunderstanding. That was a general comment directed at a number of people over the pages that have been posted since the video came up.

I'm not saying people are attacking the show unfairly because they miss what was there. I'm saying people are letting their anger push them to go beyond criticizing the show and engaging in personal attacks.

I have nothing invested in Off Kilter and I have in the past enjoyed a Lumberjack show. This is not interesting or entertaining. It's really off.

And I am critiquing it based on the show I saw today. It's a dumpster fire but worse

(I never really was a fan of off-kilter)

I never said you weren't. I didn't call you out, unless you were one of the ones. I'm not sure why you quoted me to begin with. Dangit, I'm gonna have to go back through all those pages and quote a lot, aren't I? XD

I get where you're coming from.

And for the kids at home, I don't hate this show. I am completely apathetic towards it. I saw it, I tried it, and my reaction is that of being served a full baby's diaper. Repulsion, avoidance and eventual apathy.
