Canadian Lumberjack Show to open at Epcot's Canada Pavilion in early October

The only way Disney is going to put an end to the show is if nobody stops to watch it. My family won't watch this crap but unfortunately lots will just like some will think this is a proper representation of Canada.

I guess it is one less thing to do at Disney World along with no World Showcase Players. Less entertainment means less days at Epcotmeans less days and money spent at Disney. Money seems to be the only language the powers that be speak is I will be telling them how I feel by not spending as much of my money at Disney.

Ok, I like the new entertainment about as much as New Coke - but I don't think we need to stoop to ad hominem attacks on the performers.

Not exactly sure how you think I'm engaging in an "ad hominem attack." I'm not debating the performers here nor am I seeking to gain an upper-hand over them...both of which would be required if I were actually engaging in an ad hominem attack on them......you might want to recheck the definition of ad hominem. Perhaps you feel my complaints about the performers appearing as "hicks" and "fat slobs" is in poor taste -- and you are certainly entitled to your opinion regarding that.

However, my feelings on this will not change. My observations on this 'show' is that it's a bunch of overweight guys haphazardly slapping around axes (with no true skill) while another overweight guy engages in poorly thought-out commentary. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if a Budweiser beer chug competition was added here.

Truth be told, this has a very Nascar feel to it....as if the same type of person who likes watching hicks make left hand turns for three hours on Fox is the only type of person who would find this show entertaining. Sorry. It's how I feel.

Watched the video. Hated the show and especially disliked the MC. I don't care how many trees one plants to replace the one tree cut down for only entertainment purposes--I still consider it wrong. Any one up for a peaceful protest dressed at Kodama's from Disney's Princess Mononoke on Halloween at Epcot?

How much LP gas do they burn up every night for Illuminations, just for entertainment? Unlike trees, LP gas isn't a renewable resource. How many trees are cut down to make park maps and times guides? Disney world "wastes" tons of natural resources just for entertainment purposes.

Using the terms you did an ad hominem "short for argumentum ad hominem, is a form of criticism directed at something about the person one is criticizing, rather than something (potentially, at least) independent of that person."

I think it was pointed out elsewhere, but this seems like a misplaced effort. If you truly are passionate about the environment, I think there are other places on property that are much more environmentally egregious than this show. As pointed out the fireworks are a start, but the buses and the amount of wasted food would be another place to turn if you truly want to see a positive environmental impact.

I have just tried to watch the video, I say tried as I had to skip ahead a few times in order not to be bored out of my mind. Off Kilter aside, I cant think this will be a smashing success with anyone. It looks cheap and amateurish. I would ask what anyone was thinking when they hired this act, but it was pretty clear they werent. Bring on the Canadian Holiday Voyageurs!!!! That should be a great step up considering!!! Marie

Not a very good definition.
Try Merriam-webster instead of the mindlessly grabbing the first link that shows up in google -
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/ad hominem

"marked by or being an attack on an opponent's character rather than by an answer to the contentions made"

I need to be *debating* the performers in order for them to be my 'opponent'. Moreover, I'm not attacking their character. I'm attacking their show - which is very much my point of contention here. VERY different.

The show presents unskilled, overweight men masquerading as 'lumberjacks'. The first 4 axe throws in the show barely hit the target. One throw missed completely. Unskilled. Slovenly. Sorry....it's a show. The performer and his/her appearance of competency matters. Would you think me attacking the character of an overweight character CM trying to unsuccessfully portray goofy?

Don't bother responding....Im not debating this further.

This is horrible. I'm not an Off Kilter fan but this replacement is embarrassing. Epic fail Disney. Epic fail.

Really? That was the actual show or just a representation? Seriously it awful. Forget about Off Kilter. There is zero quality as far as entertainment goes. I just don't get it. You could see something like this at a local state fair or something. Where is the uniqueness? Just awful.

I'm sure this will be cancelled in a month or so after a misguided axe flys off stage..

You both have partially misunderstood me. Among other causes, I am particularly passionate about the conservation of plant life. Although Disney still prints maps, they do offer other options such as Disney phone apps that I would like to think include maps--reducing the amount of trees cut down for educating purposes--not entertainment. They've also eliminated paper fast-passes. I consider the trees sentient beings and just because Disney uses LP Gas for their show, it doesn't justify them to also advocate the cutting down of trees so that people can cheer on someone to cut/chop a log quicker than their opponent. LP Gas is a by-product of prehistoric decomposition; trees are living organisms. And yes, I do know that Disney removes living plants they no longer deem useful, however, I would like to think that they are composted for use by future plants. Composting trees is very time consuming and requires a lot of effort and I don't think that is what the future holds for these cast-off logs.

meh. Not super impressed...they at least could try to sell me a razor sharp axe at the giftshop!

And they DID use some RUSH tunes in the soundtrack if you listen!

I do like the Rush!

Why not swap this for Bob and Doug Mackenzie? That could work...

I completely missed that they played Rush, I was preoccupied with boredom from the show itself.
