Rumor Canada Far & Wide refurbishment

I always thought Canada could use a Dawson City Saloon.

Maybe too old timey for the execs, but when do they ever turn down a chance to stick a bar into Epcot?
Thats what I don’t understand, they have plenty of unused space in the upstairs of the pavilion to create a really cool bar, yet they would rather close an attraction and use its space.

The hotel space could easily turned into a bar, the interior is already finished, just needs refreshed . Something along the lines of this would be easy to do, and fits the theme of a hotel lobby, seems like a no brainer.

They really don’t.
The Château could easily accommodate a bar the size of the tequila cave. Or a gallery like the other countries. Not enough room for a quick serve/ kitchen, but a bar would fit. If they really wanted to spend money they could relocate the stock room in the stone houses and use that as a guest space too. There’s useable space there, they just don’t want to use it.

If they could cram this into a former retail space in Mexico, surely they could do it in Canada.

Many times, was even scheduled to clean it out for a week when local leaders were proposing to have it made into a bar to execs. Execs decided to go with spice road plan instead. I’ve seen the plans, it’s quite feasible to be made into a bar. It almost happened again in 2017 but the park got something a little more artsy instead.

Oooo swanky. Reminds me of the grand hotels Fairmont built along Canadian railways in early 1900s. Love visiting the Royal York, theming would be a cinch. Throw in some Canadian rye and ales and the menu writes itself.

I didn’t know you were cast - You’d know what a pig it would be then. Public access would need an alternate set of exit stairs, the existing access stairs needed widening for the same reason. HVAC would need to be addressed. The structure would need addressing. The space left would not be worth it.

Interesting views though if you find the right window. And don’t let them see you looking.

More reasons to bulldoze this half baked pavilion. Expand Imagination, expand the U.K. Pavilion or build a proper event flex space. Anything. Something. All the above.

They replaced all the HVAC in 2012. Not sure what stairs you’re referring to? Inside? I don’t recall them having any issues with that in the plans. They scraped the elevator access because apparently it was going to cost $100k, would only be accessible from main pavilion and not le cellier. It came really close to happening, but Disney wouldn’t allow a major liquor company to put their logo as a sponsor so they left, and spice road was paid for by third party so they got the bar instead.

That elevator has more stories than the ones on Sunset.

Last I heard (last few years) was the upper building wouldn’t handle any major alterations / changes.

Wow, I had no idea that building had ever been open to the public.
Yep! Closed in 2005, and now just used as storage. Still mostly intact, would need new carpet paint and wallpaper. I’m not too familiar with structural issues marni was mentioning, but should somewhat easily be able to turned back into shopping, bar, or gallery. It can’t handle kitchen equipment tho so QSR out of the question.

When we visited Epcot and Food and Wine, Canada is an afterthought and we would spend more time in the other countries.
Just like most other guests. There’s nothing to keep your interest as you make your way up into the pavilion, no life or activity. Are you going to hang out in a pavilion that feels dead or one that feels alive?

It was a nice gift shop. Sold unusual Canadian gifts.

We still have a very unique Christmas ornament that we purchased there. It was a maple leaf that had the all the blade material removed, leaving only the veins which were then gold plated.
The store also sold Canadian maple syrup. I still like USA's Aunt Jemima.
