as u may or may not know, castlecake lives in Ontario Canada. I was wondering if Disney has ever thought of putting a Disneyland in Canada.

If not, is it because...

A) We only have nicer weather 4 months a year?

B)We (canada ) is still a brittish country & the U.S. don't like the brittish.

C) or b/c our population is a 10th of the U.S.?::( :(

1 more thing, canada has 2 official languages, english & french, so that means ,by law, everything would have to be in english and french, right down to the names of the rides!

I would think there are two preliminary questions Disney Park Planners must ask themselves when determining the location of future parks:

1. Would it be profitable?
2. Would it be feasible?

A Canadian park would not be profitable because it isn't feasible to build a Theme Park where 8 out of 12 months of the year the weather is not conducive to substantial park attendance; and to a lesser extent, your population. The language difference has never been a problem for Disney, look at Paris and Tokyo. And the British are our only friends in the world so it can't be that.

Besides....it may simply be a matter of revenge since we're sick of you guys kicking our with all your great hockey clubs!

I read recently that the vast amount of Canadians live within 100 miles of the U.S. border, if that is true then what is the point of building a Disney Park in Canada.I predict the next Disney Park will be in Wigan England.Mickey would walk down Main Street with a whippet ,a flat cap, eating a pork pie.

Even if we do live( most people dont) within 250km or 100miles, it is still a 4 hour drive just to the US border:eek:

Canadians must drive more slowly than I remember (I lived there for awhile.) 100 miles at 25MPH =4 hours. Vancouver, Toronto, Winnepeg, & Montreal are all about 1 hour from the border. The drive to WDW is shorter from Toronto than from the New England states. I think it is, as previously mentioned, a matter of both weather and population
density that keeps Disney from building in Canada. However, maybe "global warming" will change all that!

I'm sorry, I had a senior moment & lost my train of thought! What I also meant to say is, if a park was built in a somewhat centralized population area, say Winnipeg, it would still be faster for people from Ontario, Quebec, & the Maritimes to go to Florida. Canada is really, really wide! Actually, I guess the middle would be somewhere in Ontario, which would create problems for people on the west coast. Anyways, climate is a major problem.

Why would Disney build a park in Canada when it seems that Canadians are very willing to drive to florida to come to WDW.

For those of you who like myself live in Florida..you probobly have noticed this too. About once every year...we start to see tons of Cars (mostly Blue Minivans) with canadian tags on them all over florida. They seem to travel down here more often than most americans...so it doesnt seem like it would be something disney would need to do to gain buisness.

I am also pretty confident that the Weather is a MAJOR factor as to why disney tries not to do to many "northern" parks. Yes it snows in tokyo, but it is also a much more modern park than most others...and has more funding to repair weather damage.

Wonderful idea !!!!!

I wasn't aware that the US didn't like the british . You would not guess so by reading these boards.

I dont see why they would build another major park in an area where the weather is so varied. DLP in winter just aint the same as WDW in July!!

Is it anything to do with the stereotyping the fact that Canadians always say "ABOOT" ?

I take it you don't live that close to the Canadian Boarder?
I have friends on both sides of the Boarder. I go up to Canada at least once a year and visit. Besides it's always nice to get better exchanges on your money all the time. think it was $1.49 US to 1 Canadian exchange rate last month while I was up there. Nice to Spend $100, and only spend about $60 US when you get your credit card Bill.

The unfortunate truth of the matter is that I not only live within an hour of the Canadian border (by the almighty Niagara Falls), but I also live in Ontario's favorite ski area. Every winter Ontario's upper crust come to my little corner of the world in droves and treat me like a second class citizen in my own home. That my friend is why I am sick of the buggers!

Of course this is no reason to hold the entire country in contempt, but if "really big dork" is the worst that our neighbors to the north are called, they are pretty darn lucky. :D

Maybe if you can convince your fellow countrymen to stop wearing Speedos when they come to Florida,Disney might cut a deal and build you a park up there. It would be a win win situation;)
