Does this event take place every night, or just certain nights? What time does it usually take place? And in case the schedule varies by month, we're going in April.

When does the campfire program begin and what is it like? What is this month's campfire movie schedule
The campfire program has no admission fee and is open to all WDW resort guests. It generally begins around 7 p.m. during the fall/winter season and 8 p.m. after the time changes in April through the summer. It is held near the Meadow Trading Post in the campfire area. The program begins with a sing-along led by a Disney CM and a marshmallow roast around two campfire rings. You may bring your own marshmallows or buy them at the Chuck Wagon (roasting sticks and marshmallows are $2). You may also buy pizza, hot dogs, candy, nachos, juice, popcorn, sodas, coffee, beer and other refreshments at the Chuck Wagon. While this is going on, Chip and Dale make an appearance to visit with guests and sign autographs. The sing-along lasts about 40 minutes. Next, one or two Disney animated features, depending upon the season, are shown on a large outdoor screen. Seating is available in bleachers or on benches. There is also plenty of room to lay out a quilt or blanket. In the event of rain, the sing-along is still held on the porch of the Meadow Trading Post. Here is a recent movie schedule to give you an idea of what is shown

You can call the "bike barn" at FW (the front desk can transfer you or there is a direct number, I just can't put my hands on it right now) and maybe will know the exact hours, starts around dusk or so, just before the movie. The movie schedule is also available too, so you can plan on what movie you want to see. Possibly the bike barn will have that schedule too.

You will also get a listing of the time and movies being shown in your welcome packet when you check in. There is a little folded brochure in the packet that covers this information.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. Seems kind of late, though, for a program for children. We're going in April, so the show starts at 8 PM, with the first 40 minutes or so being the singalong, and THEN, a movie? That's kind of a late evening for children who may need to be in bed. Are we talking about full length animated feature, or a series of cartoon shorts? Oh well, I guess it's still not that big of a deal, seeing as how on our trip last April, we had our son (then almost 4) out until midnight some nights. That's what vacations are for, I guess. :ROFLOL:

it seemed to be full movie not short cartoons. could get late if you are going back to another resort. you will need a bus to front or back of campground to get back to another resort.

Well, it IS a vacation, even your kids should be allowed to live a little :D But if your little ones are very little, you'd probably be better off not planning a very early day the next day. You could also go for the singalong, which is fun, and then see how they're feeling. The movie they're showing the day you go there might not even be something your kids want to see.

Also note, it seems that some of the resorts have taken to showing movies poolside each night or a few nights a week. No campfire singalongs, but watching while swimming can be fun.

Well there is a bus depot on either side and the walk up to settlement isn't that bad.

It sounds late, but like you said - when at Disney......

Our kids are "bed at 7" kids, but at Disney it's hours after their bedtime before we hit the room and we've not had a meltdown yet - knock on wood!

Here are some pics for you:

This is just after the Sing A Long (in June, so still light) when they've just brought Chip & Dale out.

The Chipper. One tip: If there is a small crowd, one chipmunk will go to one side of the wooden benches and the other chipmunk will go to the other side. If you want to meet both chipmunks, have one parent sit on one side and one parent sit on the other side. They only greet you if you're seated and they only 'work' one side. Once they're done with their side, they're gone. If it's a large crowd, one will take the metal bleachers, and one will take the wooden benches.

What the $8.99 smores kit gets you:

Really, not a bad deal. Our family of 4 can't finish it all.

Do you know what the little logo next to half the items is? Also, does the kit come with sticks?

I believe that is a "Disney Dining Plan Snack" indicator. In other words, if you are on the Dining Plan, those items count as a Snack credit.

I honestly can't remember if it comes with a stick or not. I know we always purchase at least 2 sticks and we pay for at least one of them. Wish I could remember if it is included - sorry!

I thought it was but you never know at disney, that would be a great use of a snack point, hopefully it is only one point.

50 cents isn't so bad for a roasting stick, I doubt they would include them because you could have a family of 3 they don;t need 4 sticks or a family of 6 that need another 2.
